Xpeng Heavens Responds to Collision of Two eVTOL Aircraft at Changchun Airshow

On September 16, it was reported that two Xpeng Heavens eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft collided and crashed at the Changchun Airshow.

In response, Xpeng Heavens stated: “This afternoon, after the rehearsal at the Changchun Airshow, two aircraft involved in a dual-ship formation exercise made contact due to insufficient flight separation. One aircraft landed normally, while the other sustained damage and caught fire during landing. All personnel on-site are safe, and relevant departments have completed on-site handling procedures in an orderly manner. The specific cause is still under investigation.”

IT Home noted that Xpeng Heavens’ “land aircraft carrier” flying car project has been progressing smoothly. In March this year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China released the “Draft for Comments on the Special Conditions for X3-F Aircraft”, which provides a general basis for the type certification of similar aircraft in the future. This flying car features the world’s first vehicle-mounted automatic separation and integration mechanism, allowing users to automatically separate or combine the land and flight modes within 5 minutes with a single button press. It is designed in a cybernetic mecha style, and ground driving only requires a C-level driving license.

In June this year, Xpeng Heavens signed cooperation agreements with three companies in Shandong, planning to establish two flying car application demonstration sites and no less than 10 take-off and landing points, marking the substantial progress in low-altitude economy cooperation.
