On September 8, Nissan China released its latest sales data. In August, Nissan’s passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle divisions recorded 58,756 units sold, up 19.41% year-on-year compared with 49,204 units in the same month last year. However, from January to August 2025, cumulative sales reached 395,586 units, down 9.19% year-on-year from 435,603 units.

Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti brands) sold 54,628 units in August, up 17.53% YoY. Within this, the Nissan brand achieved 52,807 units, a robust 24.8% increase. In terms of individual models, two models surpassed 10,000 units in retail sales:Nissan Sylphy: 27,700 unitsNissan N7: 10,100 units
Other top sellers included the Qashqai (6,200 units), Teana (4,400 units), and X-Trail (3,600 units), though all below the 10,000-unit mark.
Among them, the Sylphy and N7 stood out in August. The Dongfeng Nissan N7, the first model built on the company’s in-house Tianyuan architecture and designed for mainstream families, launched on April 27 with five trims priced between RMB 119,900–149,900. By the end of August, cumulative deliveries reached 26,500 units, quickly becoming a new growth driver. Nissan noted that delivery times have shortened significantly: new orders can now be fulfilled within 2–4 weeks, and in some regions as fast as 1–2 weeks.
Looking ahead, two new models are scheduled for Q4 launch:Dongfeng Nissan N6, the brand’s second new-energy sedan and first plug-in hybrid under the Tianyuan architecture, powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (NR15) paired with an electric drive system.
Teana PLUS, an updated version of the Teana, featuring refreshed styling, a slightly longer body (4920 mm), and continued use of the 2.0T VC-Turbo engine with an 8-speed-simulated CVT.
As competition in China’s NEV market intensifies, Japanese automakers such as Nissan face mounting pressure in their electrification strategies. The initial success of the N7 has helped improve Nissan’s momentum in China, and industry observers believe that the upcoming N6 and Teana PLUS will play important roles in boosting Nissan’s performance in the near future.
