Potential Battery Discharge Risk! FAW-Volkswagen Recalls Over 20,000 Imported and Domestic Audi Vehicles

On October 24, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the National Market Supervision Administration due to a potential battery discharge risk, in accordance with the “Defective Automobile Products Recall Management Regulations” and the “Defective Automobile Products Recall Management Regulations Implementation Measures.”

Recall number S2025M0170V: Starting immediately, a recall of certain imported Audi A7, A8L, Q7, Q8, RS6, RS7, RSQ8, S6, S7, S8, and A6 Allroad vehicles produced between February 3, 2022, and December 4, 2023, totaling 20,277 vehicles.

Recall number S2025M0171V: Starting immediately, a recall of certain domestic Audi A6L vehicles produced between June 3, 2021, and November 21, 2023, totaling 2,848 vehicles.

Due to manufacturing issues, some of the vehicles within the recall range may have internal electronic components of the 48V belt starter-generator inverter that are poorly connected to the printed circuit board after extended use, causing the 48V starter-generator to stop supplying power. In extreme cases, this may result in a battery discharge and a loss of power, posing a safety risk.

FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. will authorize Audi authorized dealers to inspect the starter-generator software version for vehicles within the recall range. For those with earlier versions, the starter-generator will be replaced free of charge to eliminate the safety risk. Since some vehicles have already had the optimized starter-generator replaced, these vehicles will not require another replacement.

This recall is an expansion of the recall activity “FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. Recalls Some Imported and Domestic Audi Vehicles,” which was announced on December 20, 2024.
