Xiaomi YU7 Pro Owner Discovers ‘Extra Component’ Beneath Driver’s Seat — Dealer Claims It’s Normal

Recently, according to a report by “1818 Golden Eye”, a media outlet in China, Mr. Yu from Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, purchased a Xiaomi YU7 Pro on October 12. Two days later, on October 14, he noticed a hard protrusion beneath the driver’s seat while using the car. Store staff reached under the seat and retrieved a small object, but when Mr. Yu asked what it was, the employees struggled to provide a clear answer.

During the interview, Mr. Yu showed the reporter the part in question — it was L-shaped, with one side that could move, and it had several rows of numbers and a QR code printed on it. When the reporter scanned the code, it only displayed a string of numbers, without revealing the name or type of the component. Mr. Yu also presented a vehicle inspection report provided by Xiaomi, which indicated that all systems were functioning normally, yet contained no mention or description of this mysterious part.

The head of Xiaomi’s after-sales department in Jinhua stated, “We have inspected all components listed in the report, and found no abnormalities. This was an oversight at the factory.” However, Mr. Yu was not satisfied with that explanation. He wanted an official clarification explaining what the part is, why it was inside the vehicle, and at which stage of production it was introduced.

On-site staff declined to be interviewed on camera but left their contact information. Later, a representative responded in writing, saying:

“After receiving the customer’s feedback, we have been actively communicating with him. We invited the customer to bring the vehicle in for a comprehensive inspection, and all functions were confirmed to be normal. The written explanation requested by the customer can be provided in the form of a note attached to the service order.”
