On September 15, Buick officially unveiled the Buick Zijing L7, a mid-to-large sedan. The Zijing brand’s models are developed based on the all-new “Xiaoyao” architecture, and the L7 is the first sedan under the Zijing lineup. It is positioned as a mid-to-large sedan, equipped with a 1.5T range-extended powertrain. Under the CLTC cycle, it offers a pure-electric range of 302 km and a total combined range of more than 1,400 km.

Exterior Design
The L7 draws inspiration from the design philosophy of the Electra-L concept car. The front end adopts the currently popular closed-off grille design, flanked by narrow, L-shaped headlights with a very high recognition factor when illuminated. The raised contour lines on the hood, combined with the lower air intake in the front bumper, enhance the car’s sporty appearance. Buick says the Zijing L7 will be offered in six exterior colors: Obsidian Black, Moonshadow Gray, Cloud White, Champagne Gold, Nebula Purple, and Crystal Amethyst.
From the side, the L7 adopts a fastback-style silhouette with flush door handles. Gloss black trim highlights the upper window frame, while chrome strips decorate the lower edge. At the rear, the car features a through-type taillight cluster with intricate internal detailing and an integrated “intelligent driving blue light,” improving recognition. The car measures 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, firmly placing it in the mid-to-large sedan segment.
Interior and Features
The L7’s cabin follows Buick’s new “Pure Floating Island” design language, departing from the curved dual-screen layout used on current models. It offers four interior color schemes: Deep Blue (“Starry Night”), Warm Amber, Purple-White (“Twilight”), and Misty Blue. The car is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and a 50-inch panoramic AR-HUD head-up display. The dashboard features a full-width air vent design, with a layered floating effect, column-mounted shifter, and a hollowed-out storage space beneath the secondary console. Connectivity options include Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Xiaomi/OPPO/Vivo CarLink integration.
The L7 is equipped with four full-feature “floating layer” Nappa leather seats. The front passenger seat offers a “zero-gravity” position with a four-way power-adjustable leg rest that can extend up to 103 mm, controllable via voice, screen, or physical buttons. The second-row seats feature power lumbar support, power recline adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions, all controllable via a 610 mm-long smart touch panel integrated into the center armrest.
Powertrain and Performance
The Zijing L7 uses a 1.5T engine (model LD3) produced by SAIC-GM as the range extender, delivering a maximum output of 115 kW and 230 Nm of peak torque. The drive motor produces 252 kW, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. Comprehensive fuel consumption is as low as 0.5 L/100 km. The model is equipped with Buick’s fully in-house-developed range-extended system and a newly developed 40.2 kWh Ultium battery pack, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of 302 km and a combined range of over 1,400 km.
Brand Context and Market Position
The Zijing brand was launched just before the Shanghai Auto Show in April as Buick’s high-end new energy sub-brand. Its lineup is based on the new Xiaoyao architecture, covering MPVs, SUVs, and sedans, supporting pure-electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extended powertrains, as well as FWD, RWD, and AWD configurations. Buick announced that it plans to launch six models on this architecture within the next 12 months. The first was the Buick Century, a flagship MPV derived from the GL8 ENCASA, aimed at high-end families. The Zijing L7 is the brand’s first sedan, positioned in the mid-to-large segment, with an estimated starting price of around RMB 250,000. Based on its market positioning, the Zijing L7 will likely compete with models such as the Enjoy S9 Range-Extended (starting at RMB 309,800) and the Avatr 12 Range-Extended (starting at RMB 269,900).
