What is the appropriate pricing? Zero-run Lafa5 declaration

In the latest new car declaration catalog published on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s official website, Automobile Industry Focus discovered that the new model from Leap Motor, the Lafa5, has appeared in the declaration catalog. As a brand-new model, the car is built on the LEAP 3.5 platform, positioned as a compact hatchback, and features Leap Motor’s family design language with more international design elements. It is powered by pure electric propulsion. The Lafa5 made its debut at the 2025 Munich Motor Show and opened for blind reservations. According to the plan, the car will be launched in the domestic market in the fourth quarter of this year and will enter more global markets next year.

Looking at the declaration images, in terms of appearance, the new car has a closed grille design at the front, paired with a thick, continuous light strip. The light group inside features intermittent daytime running lights, giving it a high level of recognition. The front bumper uses a multi-bar ventilation layout and offers an AGS active intake grille. The bottom features a black sporty front lip, highlighting a strong sense of youthfulness and layering. Additionally, the car will offer optional lidar based on configurations, which is expected to provide a good intelligent driving assistance experience.

From the side, the car has a smooth and full-bodied shape, featuring a fastback design, frameless doors, hidden door handles, black exterior rearview mirror covers, and 19-inch sport wheels. These design elements give the vehicle a sporty vibe while maintaining a sense of fashion. According to the declaration information, the car will offer optional configurations such as a front monocular camera, front binocular cameras, lidar, and a high-position rear tailgate camera. At the rear, the car adopts a flying wing starry贯 through taillight design. The “LEAPMOTOR” lettering is embedded in the center of the tailgate, further enhancing the car’s recognizability. Additionally, the car is equipped with a large-size rear spoiler, and the trunk lines are slightly raised to enhance the visual layering of the vehicle.

In terms of body color, the new car offers six colors for consumers to choose from: Electric Yellow, Wind Gray, Starry Blue, Morgan Pink, Star River Silver, and Metallic Black. Among these, Electric Yellow and Wind Gray are exclusive to the Lafa5. In terms of dimensions, the car is 4430/1880/1520mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2735mm. The official claim is that the car has a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution ratio. For comparison, the new MG MG4 is 4395/1842/1551mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2750mm.

As of the time of publication, the official interior details have not been disclosed. In terms of power, the new car uses pure electric power with a 70kW-rated power motor and a peak power of 160kW. It will offer two versions with a range of 515 km and 605 km.

Considering the market positioning of the Lafa5, the new model is expected to compete with vehicles like the Volkswagen ID.3, Firefly, and the recently launched MG MG4. As a compact hatchback, what price do you think would be appropriate for the new car?
