Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors (GM), the largest automaker in the United States, said that the group will develop the electric vehicle business according to the original plan this year.
Barra said in an interview with Yahoo Finance that this year will be the year to implement the development plan of the electric vehicle business.
GM originally announced that it will invest $35 billion in developing electric vehicles from 2020 to 2025. However, with the recent weakness in electric vehicle sales, there are doubts about whether GM will implement the relevant investments. Barra’s response helps to allay market concerns.
In addition, Barra reiterated that GM maintains the goal of achieving a group sales revenue of $280 billion in 2030, which is more than double the revenue in 2021. Barra believes that the revenue from electric vehicles will be the key to achieving this goal.
