BYD’s July Sales Released, Up 27.35% Year-on-Year!

On August 1st, BYD released its sales data for July. The data showed that in July, BYD sold 344,296 vehicles, a slight increase of 1,913 units compared to the 342,383 vehicles sold in the same month last year. Among these, 341,030 were passenger vehicles, including 177,887 fully electric passenger vehicles and 163,143 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles. From January to July this year, the total sales reached 2,490,250 vehicles, marking a 27.35% increase compared to last year’s cumulative sales of 1,955,366 vehicles.

Looking at the sales of individual brands, the Dynasty and Ocean series accounted for 315,136 vehicles in July, making up the largest share of BYD’s total sales. The Dynasty series sold 133,783 units in July, with a cumulative total of 1,054,106 vehicles sold this year. Several models under the Dynasty series showed strong performance in July, with the best-seller being the Dynasty Qin, which sold 53,907 units in July, bringing its year-to-date sales to 328,213 units. Other models like the Song, Yuan, Han, Tang, and Xia also performed well, with July sales of 27,052, 22,911, 12,255, 12,002, and 5,590 units, respectively.

The Ocean series sold 179,512 units in July, with a cumulative total of 1,210,332 units this year. The Seagull, Seal, and Sea Lion models of the Ocean series each sold over 30,000 units in July. Among these, the Seal was the best-selling model with 46,850 units sold in July. Next in line were the Seagull and Sea Lion.

The Seagull, a new pure electric compact car launched by BYD in 2023, comes in three versions, with a price range from 73,800 to 89,800 RMB. Built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0, the Seagull offers an impressive range of 305km and 405km under the CLTC cycle. Thanks to its affordable price, stylish appearance, and solid range, the Seagull has been very popular among young consumers and urban commuters. From January to July this year, the Seagull’s cumulative sales reached 329,410 units.

In terms of high-end brands, the Tengshi brand sold 11,375 units in July, with the best-selling model being the Tengshi D9, which sold 8,331 units in July, bringing its year-to-date sales to 64,104 units. The N9 model sold 2,104 units in July, while the Z9 and N7 models sold 1,024 and 124 units, respectively. According to the official plan, Tengshi will soon launch the Tengshi N8L, which, along with the Tengshi N9, will form a “twin star” lineup. The expected price range is between 350,000 and 400,000 RMB. With these new models, Tengshi’s sales are expected to rise further.

The Fangchengbao brand, which BYD introduced in June 2023, focuses on personalized styles and is priced between Tengshi and Yangwang brands. The first model, the Leopard 5, was launched in November 2023. This mid-size SUV is available in three versions, with prices ranging from 289,800 to 352,800 RMB. The best-selling model of the Fangchengbao brand is the Ti3, which sold 8,513 units in July, bringing its cumulative sales to 29,176 units this year.

The Ti3, a compact pure electric SUV, was recently launched on April 16, 2025. It is available in five versions, with prices ranging from 133,800 to 193,800 RMB. Due to its affordable pricing and unique appearance, the Ti3 has gained popularity since its launch, with 3,048 units sold in its first month. BYD has also announced that the Fangchengbao Ti7 will be launched later this year, targeting the 300,000 RMB SUV market. The Ti7 will complete the brand’s model lineup.

Lastly, the Yangwang brand, BYD’s highest-end brand, sold 339 units in July, with a cumulative total of 1,342 units this year. The top-selling model was the U7, which sold 253 units in July, bringing its cumulative sales to 418 units. The U8 and U9 models sold 80 and 6 units, respectively.

In summary, the Ocean and Dynasty series remain BYD’s most important sales contributors. According to the official target, BYD aims to sell 5.5 million vehicles this year. As of now, the target completion rate is 45%. With the continued launch of new models later this year, BYD is expected to reach its annual sales target without significant issues.
