On September 9, BYD’s Fangchengbao brand officially launched its second model in the Titanium lineup—the Bao 7. The new mid-to-large SUV is offered in four trims, with prices starting at USD 25,200. Built on a unibody structure, the Bao 7 features a 2920 mm wheelbase and integrates BYD’s latest intelligent ecosystem.

Exterior Design
The Bao 7 adopts Fangchengbao’s “Interstellar Ark” design language, highlighted by a closed grille with gloss-black trim and an illuminated brand emblem. It features dual-layer L-shaped light strips paired with square headlamp units, both of which can be illuminated. The aggressive front bumper incorporates H-shaped silver accents, emphasizing a rugged off-road character. Customers can choose from multiple body colors, all with high-gloss pearlescent finishes, as well as optional gradient paintwork and personalization packages.
From the side, the SUV carries squared wheel arches, body-colored fender trims, square-shaped side mirrors, fixed side steps, and conventional door handles. Privacy glass is fitted to the rear windows, while the D-pillars feature color-matched panels with Fangchengbao branding. Measuring 4999/1995/1865 mm, the Bao 7 offers approach and departure angles of 24° and 25°, respectively. At the rear, the model features stacked taillights, a side-hinged tailgate with an external storage box (32.5 L), and an illuminated “Bao 7” badge, giving it a distinctive and functional design.
Intelligent Features
Higher trims of the Bao 7 are equipped with LiDAR, part of BYD’s DiPilot Pro system, powered by an NVIDIA Orin-X chipset with 254 TOPS computing capability. This setup supports advanced driver-assistance functions such as highway/city navigation assist and automated parking. Lower trims come with a triple-camera system under the DiPilot Lite package, with highway navigation assist and future OTA-enabled city memory navigation. A unique option includes BYD’s Lingyuan drone system, priced around USD 2,300.
Interior
Inside, the Bao 7 is offered in three color themes: Snow Grey, Eclipse Blue, and Sunset Orange. The dashboard adopts a floating dual-layer wraparound layout with a four-spoke steering wheel and rectangular air vents. Key tech features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen, and a 26-inch W-HUD head-up display. Additional conveniences include dual 50W wireless charging pads, USB-A/USB-C ports, a 12V outlet, and physical controls for key functions.
The five-seat cabin (2+3 layout) comes with leather upholstery, suede headrests, and full-electric seat adjustment with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Rear passengers benefit from an independent climate control screen. Cargo capacity is 970 liters, expandable to 1880 liters with the rear seats folded, complemented by multiple power outlets and hooks. Combined with the external storage box, the SUV offers more than 1000 liters of usable space.
Powertrain
The Bao 7 features a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system with two- and four-wheel drive variants.
FWD version: 1.5T engine (115 kW) + single electric motor (200 kW).
AWD version: dual motors, rated at 160 kW (front) + 200 kW (rear).
Two battery pack options are available (26.6 kWh and 35.6 kWh), offering three pure electric ranges: 100 km, 105 km, and 130 km. With a 60L fuel tank, the Bao 7 achieves a maximum combined range of up to 1,300 km.
Market Positioning
Despite its bold and rugged exterior, the Bao 7’s unibody construction makes it more suitable for family use. Positioned in the mid-to-large SUV segment, it directly competes with the Li Auto L6 and AITO M7. Compared with rivals, the Bao 7 delivers stronger performance and more space, though it lags in range and intelligent features. Market response remains to be seen.
Currently, Fangchengbao’s lineup includes the Bao 5, Bao 8, and Bao 3, with the Bao 7 being the fourth production model and the second Titanium series vehicle. According to retail data, from January to August 2025, sales reached 38,257 units for the Bao 3, 16,025 units for the Bao 8, and 36,091 units for the Bao 5.
