Exterior
The new IM LS6 has undergone significant front-end revisions to accommodate its range extender. While the grille remains a closed design, the front fascia now sits higher, creating a more upright and robust appearance. It is equipped with a new “T”-shaped headlight cluster: the upper contours resemble the current model, but the main light source has been moved lower to the sides, with added vertical light strips for a bolder stance. The bumper features a larger, trapezoidal dual-layer cooling intake with silver trim accents on the front lip.

From the side, the raised front end is immediately noticeable, yet the SUV retains its coupé-style fastback silhouette. Flared fenders, large dual five-spoke wheels, and multi-piston brake calipers add to its athletic appeal. Hidden door handles, blacked-out B/C pillars, and black side skirts further enhance its sporty look. According to official filings, the range-extended version measures 4937/1988/1673 mm with a 2960 mm wheelbase, while the pure EV version is slightly lower at 1671 mm in height. At the rear, the LS6 maintains its signature through-type light bar paired with a customizable digital screen.

Interior
Inside, the previous full-width display has been reconfigured into a more layered setup, with the driver’s screen and central display now integrated. The cabin features metallic through-type air vents, a three-spoke round steering wheel (with a half-spoke option available), and a floating speaker above the dashboard. Beneath the central screen is a row of physical buttons, while the center console retains its floating design with wireless charging pads, dual cup holders, and additional storage below.

Powertrain
Based on regulatory data, the new LS6 range-extended version combines a 1.5T engine (114 kW) with an electric motor rated at 230 kW. It is powered by the Super NiMax battery (66 kWh), co-developed with CATL. This specialized range-extender battery delivers over 450 km of pure-electric CLTC range, maintains 275.5 kW discharge power even at 16% SoC, and supports 800V architecture with 4C fast charging. At up to 268 kW charging power, it can replenish 310 km of range in just 15 minutes.

The pure-electric LS6 will be available in RWD (245 kW) and AWD (200 kW + 300 kW) configurations, all equipped with CATL’s ternary lithium battery packs. Range figures have not yet been disclosed.

Market Positioning
IM Motors currently offers four models: the L7, L6, LS7, and LS6. Sales data shows the LS6 leading the lineup with 22,051 units sold from January to August 2025, followed by the L6 with 14,311 units. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the LS6 competes directly with the Li Auto L6, Zhijie R7, XPeng G9, AITO M7, Dongfeng Yipai 008, and Voyah FREE. For comparison, Li Auto’s L6 sold 122,401 units and the Zhijie R7 sold 47,285 units over the same period, highlighting significant growth potential for the LS6.

Notably, competition in this segment is intensifying. The new Voyah FREE+ launched on July 12 starting at RMB 219,900, while the refreshed Zhijie R7 and AITO M7 are also set to debut soon. All three are range-extended models, and their arrival is expected to add further pressure to the IM LS6’s market performance.
