Geely’s Full-Size SUV Galaxy M9 Officially Launched Starting at $38,800 USD

On September 17, Geely officially launched the Galaxy M9, its new flagship plug-in hybrid large SUV, offering six variants. Prices are set at RMB 173,800–188,800 ($23,800–$25,900) for the Base ADAS version, and RMB 182,800–238,800 ($25,000–$32,700) for the Qianli Haohan H5 advanced driver assistance package. This represents a RMB 20,000 ($2,750) reduction compared to the pre-sale price. Positioned as the flagship under the Galaxy sub-brand, the M9 adopts a 6-seat layout and directly targets rivals like the Deepal S09, which starts at RMB 239,900 ($32,800).

Exterior Design
The Galaxy M9 showcases Geely’s latest family design. Up front, it uses a closed grille flanked by through-type LED light bars and adaptive matrix LED headlights featuring ADB anti-glare and AFS cornering functions. Vertical air ducts are placed on both sides of the bumper, while an active intake grille optimizes cooling at low speeds and reduces drag at high speeds.

The side profile is clean, highlighted by traditional mechanical door handles, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and chrome accents around the windows. Dimensions come in at 5,205 × 1,999 × 1,800 mm with a 3,030 mm wheelbase, putting it in line with competitors like the Lynk & Co 900 and Deepal S09. At the rear, a large full-width LED taillight, roof spoiler, and dual exhaust-style trim add to its premium, rugged stance.

Interior & Features
Inside, the Galaxy M9 adopts a two-tone cabin with premium finishes. It features a 12.66-inch digital instrument cluster, a 30-inch seamless infotainment screen spanning across to the passenger side, and twin wireless charging pads (50W each). A column-mounted shifter, rotary knobs, and physical buttons balance modernity with practicality.

The 6-seat layout includes two captain’s chairs in the second row with heating, ventilation, leg rests, lumbar support, and 10-point massage functions, complemented by a 17.3-inch 3K roof-mounted screen. Flat flooring in the second and third rows ensures easy access, while cargo capacity ranges from 328 liters (6-seat mode) up to 2,171 liters with rear seats folded.

Powertrain
The Galaxy M9 is powered by a 1.5T turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with three electric motors, integrated into an 11-in-1 electric drive system. Two battery options are available:

18.4 kWh pack — ~85 km (53 mi) pure electric range

41.46 kWh pack — up to 170–185 km (105–115 mi) pure electric range

With AI energy management, the combined range exceeds 1,500 km (932 mi). Performance is strong, with 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is just 4.8L/100 km. The M9 also debuts Geely’s Qianli Haohan H5 ADAS, enabling door-to-door (D2D) full-scenario navigation-assisted driving.

Market Positioning
As part of Geely’s expanding “9 Series” lineup (alongside the Lynk & Co 900 and Zeekr 9X), the Galaxy M9 fills the gap below Lynk & Co’s flagship SUV. With no obvious weaknesses in design, space, or technology, and a competitive starting price of $23,800 USD, the M9 is expected to intensify competition against the Deepal S09, Ledao L90, and Hyper HL in China’s large plug-in hybrid SUV segment.
