Limited-Time Offer: All-New MG4 Launched Starting from $9,200 USD

On August 29, at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, MG (Morris Garages) officially launched the all-new MG4, a compact electric hatchback. A total of five variants were introduced, priced between 68,800 RMB and 102,800 RMB, with a limited-time subsidized price ranging from 65,800 RMB to 99,800 RMB (approx. $9,200–$14,400 USD after conversion).

Built on SAIC’s E3 pure-electric architecture platform, the new-generation MG4 has been comprehensively upgraded in terms of exterior, interior, body dimensions, and powertrain, while also debuting the MG × OPPO intelligent in-car connectivity system. Its CLTC range reaches up to 530 km, significantly enhancing overall competitiveness.

Exterior Design
The new MG4 adopts a sleeker, rounder design language. At the front, it features a closed grille with an illuminated MG badge for recognition, paired with new projector-style headlights for a sharper look. The segmented lower intake uses honeycomb elements with side air ducts, adding sporty flair.

From the side, the new MG4 moves away from the floating-roof style in favor of a classic hatchback silhouette, with longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs. A charging port is placed on the front fender. Other highlights include traditional door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the full-width taillight bar with arrow-shaped internals gives high night-time recognition, while the redesigned bumper and sporty roof spoiler enhance its dynamic character. The license plate holder has been relocated from the tailgate to the bumper.

Six body colors are available: Eastern Purple, Clear Green, Moonlight White, Coral Red, Starlight Grey, and Island Blue. In terms of dimensions, the new MG4 measures 4,395 × 1,842 × 1,551 mm, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase—larger in every aspect compared to the outgoing model.

Interior & Technology
Inside, the MG4 offers Rose Purple and Dai Mountain Blue two-tone interior themes. Depending on trim, buyers can choose between 10.25-inch, 12.8-inch, or 15.6-inch displays, all running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The new MG × OPPO system supports voice-assisted functions, OTA updates, Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, Carlink, and lifestyle modes such as Nap, Pet, Camping, and Sentry.

Other upgrades include a column-mounted gear selector, a two-spoke heated steering wheel, and 50W wireless phone charging, all adding to the car’s modern tech appeal.

Power & Range
All models are equipped with a front-mounted single motor producing 120 kW and 250 Nm of torque. Battery options include 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh LFP packs, with CLTC ranges of 437 km and 530 km respectively.

For comparison, the outgoing MG4 offered both rear-wheel drive and dual-motor AWD versions, with outputs ranging from 125 kW to 315 kW and ranges between 415–520 km.

Market Positioning
Targeting the Volkswagen ID.3, BYD Dolphin, Baojun Cloud, and Firefly EV, the all-new MG4 is entering a fiercely competitive compact EV segment. With its fresh styling, improved space, upgraded technology, and enhanced range, MG hopes the new MG4 can stand out and win over Chinese consumers in 2025’s highly competitive market.
