Compared to the current model, the new vehicle has been upgraded in terms of appearance, interior, powertrain, and intelligent features.

Exterior:
The new model retains the rugged, boxy design but features some adjustments to the front. The previous retro round headlights have been replaced with square lights, significantly enhancing the vehicle’s sporty and off-road vibe. According to the official introduction, the “tenon-and-mortise square lights” are equipped with 123 high-transmittance LED bulbs, improving the vehicle’s lighting effect. The front features a new “Xiongguan” square grille, integrated with the “HAVAL” brand logo at the center, increasing the vehicle’s recognizability. At the rear, the car adopts a side-opening tailgate design, with options for an externally mounted spare tire or storage box, providing more choices for consumers. The taillights feature a new vertical layout, giving the vehicle a more stylish appearance.

Body:
The overall layout is similar to the current model, with traditional door handles, black wheel arches, and black multi-spoke wheels, further emphasizing the vehicle’s off-road attributes. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4800mm in length, 1950mm in width, and 1843mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2738mm.

Interior:
The interior is equipped with the latest family-style dual-spoke steering wheel, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, creating a high-tech feel inside the cabin. In terms of configuration, it is equipped with the advanced Coffee OS 3 vehicle system. The front seats support electric adjustments and heating, while the rear seat backs can be adjusted freely between 27 and 32 degrees, providing a comfortable seating environment. For driver assistance, the vehicle is equipped with 22 sensors, including high-definition cameras, millimeter-wave radar, and ultrasonic radar. Combined with the Great Wall Coffee Pilot Plus system, it can support full-speed NOA (Navigation On Autopilot), smart cruise control, full-scene parking assistance, multi-level memory parking, and trajectory reversal functions.

Powertrain:
The new Haval Dragon PHEV is equipped with Great Wall’s second-generation Hi4 technology, a new 1.5T engine with a maximum power output of 115 kW. It is paired with the P2+P4 electric motors, with the rear-drive electric motor delivering a maximum power output of 150 kW. The system’s total output is 330 kW, with a combined torque of 750 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. It features a 35.43 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack, with a pure electric range of 200 km (CLTC), and a combined range of over 1000 km. The battery comes in two options: 18.74 kWh and 27.54 kWh, with CLTC pure electric ranges of 102 km and 145 km, respectively.

Background:
The Haval Dragon is a compact SUV from the Haval brand. It started pre-sales at the 2023 Chengdu Motor Show and officially launched in October 2023. At that time, three versions of the model were introduced, with prices ranging from 165,800 to 183,800 RMB. In May 2024, the Haval Dragon’s fuel version was launched, with an official price range of 156,900 to 166,900 RMB, and after discounts, the price was between 136,900 and 146,900 RMB. It is worth mentioning that the Haval Dragon has primarily been offered as a PHEV SUV, with a fuel version now filling the gap for customers who prefer non-hybrid vehicles.

Why did Haval launch a fuel version? Great Wall Motors’ Haval General Manager Zhao Yongpo explained on his personal Weibo, “It’s because there are still users who like the Dragon but are not particularly fond of PHEVs. Even if it’s just a small portion of users, we still need to pay attention to their needs.”

With the official launch of the 2026 Haval Dragon PHEV and the earlier release of the fuel version, Haval is now covering a wider range of customer groups, which will help improve the competitiveness of the entire Dragon model lineup. According to recent data, the Haval Dragon’s sales in July were 3,077 units, and the new energy version of the Dragon sold 4,979 units.
