Official Announcement! Three Automakers Launch Recalls

According to an announcement by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), three car brands — Volvo, MINI, and Jeep — are initiating recalls due to product defects.

Volvo Recalls
Daqing Volvo Car Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Volvo Car Sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. announced that from September 26, 2025, they will recall 5,793 domestically produced S90 vehicles manufactured between April 24, 2025 and August 7, 2025.

Reason: Due to adjustments in production parameters, the sealant on the steering column was applied in a non-standard position, resulting in poor sealing. This may lead to water ingress, affecting the wiring harness in the floor area. In extreme cases, this could trigger instrument panel warnings, and active safety systems may malfunction, posing safety risks.

Remedy: Volvo will authorize dealers to reapply sealant to affected vehicles free of charge.

Additionally, due to seat belt manufacturing issues, the torsion bar in the front seat belt retractor’s locking system may become damaged. In the event of a collision, this could reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt.

The recall covers:

3 domestically produced S90 vehicles manufactured between August 11–21, 2025

723 imported XC90 vehicles manufactured between June 17–August 20, 2025

53 imported V90CC vehicles manufactured between June 24–August 10, 2025

Remedy: Authorized Volvo dealers will replace the front seat belt assemblies free of charge.

Jeep Recalls
Stellantis (Shanghai) Automotive Co., Ltd. announced that from September 29, 2025, it will recall:

893 imported Wrangler 2.0T 4xe Sahara four-door plug-in hybrid vehicles produced between September 5, 2023 and March 26, 2024

56 imported Wrangler 2.0T 4xe Rubicon four-door plug-in hybrid vehicles produced between March 31, 2023 and March 14, 2024

Reason: Due to manufacturing issues, the remote start antenna cable may be pinched under the left rear seat belt retractor bracket. This could prevent the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) from reading tire pressure, increasing the risk of accidents.

Remedy: Authorized dealers will inspect the antenna cable, and if pinched, replace the remote start antenna assembly free of charge.

MINI Recalls
Beam Automotive Co., Ltd. announced that due to battery production issues, some cells may contain double tabs, causing excessive self-discharge. In extreme cases, this could lead to battery overheating and safety hazards.

The recall covers:

4 domestically produced MINI COOPER vehicles manufactured between June 15–July 16, 2024

3 domestically produced MINI ACEMAN vehicles manufactured between July 9–August 1, 2024

Remedy: Affected vehicles will receive replacement battery modules free of charge.

About Beam Automotive and MINI
Beam Automotive Co., Ltd. is a 50:50 joint venture between Great Wall Motors and BMW Group.

The MINI COOPER, Beam’s first mass-produced model, launched on July 6, 2024.

The MINI ACEMAN, Beam’s second domestic EV, launched on August 27, 2024, filling the gap between the MINI five-door hatchback and the Countryman.

Since localization, the MINI COOPER has undergone several recalls, mainly due to battery overheating risks. However, the latest recall involves only a small number of vehicles.

Sales data: From January to August 2025, MINI COOPER sales reached 7,106 units, while MINI ACEMAN sold only 877 units.
