Personnel changes! Stellantis Group announces official update.

On September 29, Stellantis Group officially announced the appointment of Joao Laranjo as the Group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a member of the Stellantis leadership team. The appointment is effective immediately.

In June of this year, Stellantis announced that Antonio Filosa officially assumed the role of CEO of Stellantis and appointed new leadership team members. Among these, Doug Ostermann was appointed as the Group’s CFO, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, and strategic oversight of joint ventures. However, Stellantis officially stated that, due to personal reasons, Doug Ostermann resigned from his position as CFO and left the Group. After his departure, Joao Laranjo will take over as CFO and assume all responsibilities previously handled by Ostermann.

Public records show that Joao Laranjo holds an MBA from Brazil’s IBMEC and completed an advanced financial program at the Wharton School in the United States. Looking back at his career, Joao Laranjo has over 20 years of professional experience in finance and auditing across multiple markets, with deep expertise in the automotive industry. He has previously worked at General Electric and the former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. In 2017, he was appointed as Stellantis’ CFO for North America. In 2024, he joined Goodyear as Vice President of Finance, leading the finance team for the Americas. He returned to Stellantis earlier this year as CFO for North America.

Since the beginning of 2025, Stellantis has taken a series of measures to streamline its organizational structure and made several high-level personnel changes. On February 4, Stellantis announced measures to simplify its organizational structure, including targeted organizational adjustments. The Group’s regional headquarters worldwide would strengthen local decision-making and execution in product planning, product development, and industrial and commercial activities while coordinating with the Group’s central functions. In terms of personnel, on May 28, Stellantis officially announced the appointment of Antonio Filosa as the new CEO, effective June 23. Following this, Stellantis also made various personnel adjustments and announced the new leadership team.

According to financial reports, Stellantis’ net revenue for the first half of 2025 was 74.3 billion euros, a 13% decrease compared to the previous year. The net loss was 2.3 billion euros, compared to a net profit of 5.6 billion euros in the same period last year. In terms of sales, Stellantis’ global total sales for the first half of 2025 were 2.69 million vehicles, an 8% decline year-on-year. Stellantis attributed the revenue decline to a drop in North America and Europe, partly offset by growth in South America. Stellantis also pointed out that it expects continued improvement in the second half of 2025.

With the rise of domestic brands and the rapid development of new energy vehicles, many multinational automakers are experiencing a transformation challenge, adjusting their organizational structures to adapt to this shift. Stellantis is no exception. As planned, Stellantis will launch 10 new models this year, including the Jeep Commander and Citroën C5 Aircross. It is expected that the company will return to profitability and generate positive cash flow by the end of the year. In this personnel change announcement, Stellantis reiterated that the “2025 Financial Performance Guidance Target” released on July 29, 2025, remains unchanged.

Regarding Joao Laranjo’s appointment as CFO, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa stated, “I have worked closely with Joao Laranjo for 15 years and have witnessed his gradual rise within the company. Over the years, I’ve been impressed by his exceptional financial acumen, results-driven mindset, and deep understanding of the complexities of our industry. I’m also delighted to welcome him to the Stellantis leadership team, as we continue to prepare for the Group’s future growth and long-term success. At the same time, I would like to thank Doug Ostermann for his years of dedication and service to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Stellantis.”
