Nissan’s Sales in China Released, Up 21.8% Year-on-Year!

On August 13th, Nissan China released the latest sales data. The data shows that Nissan’s sales in China (including both passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) in July were 57,359 units, a year-on-year increase of 21.8% compared with 47,102 units in the same period last year. As of the end of July, the cumulative sales of Nissan in China (covering both passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) in the first seven months of this year were 336,830 units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.8% compared with 386,399 units in the same period last year.




Specifically, in July, the sales volume of Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti brands) was 52,655 units, a year-on-year increase of 19.4% compared with 44,101 units in the same period last year; the sales of the Nissan brand were 51,005 units, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%. Among the segmented models, only one Nissan model in China achieved retail sales of over 10,000 units in July. The Sylphy sold 26,300 units, while the sales of other models were all below 10,000 units. Among them, the sales of the Teana, Nissan N7, Qashqai, and X-Trail, which ranked in the top five, were 7,459 units, 6,455 units, 6,244 units, and 3,631 units respectively.


The Dongfeng Nissan N7 is the first model under Dongfeng Nissan’s fully independently developed Tianyan Architecture, and it is also a brand-new model developed positively to meet the needs of mainstream family users. It was launched on April 27th, with a total of 5 models available, priced from 119,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan. The vehicle is equipped with the NISSAN OS in-vehicle system supported by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip and is connected to the DeepSeek-R1 large model. In terms of power, all models are equipped with a single motor, with maximum power of 160 kW and 200 kW respectively. Data shows that as of the end of July, since its launch, the cumulative sales of Dongfeng Nissan N7 have reached 16,343 units, with sales in May, June, and July being 3,034 units, 6,189 units, and 6,455 units respectively. The new car has become a new growth point for Dongfeng Nissan’s sales.


As one of the Nissan automakers, Nissan Motor is facing certain operational pressures. The latest financial report shows that in the first fiscal quarter (April-June 2025) of Nissan Motor’s 2025 fiscal year (March 2025 – March 2026), its revenue was 2,706.9 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7% compared with 2,998.4 billion yen in the same period of the previous year; it suffered a net loss of 115.7 billion yen, compared with a net profit of 28.6 billion yen in the same period, turning from profit to loss. This is also the fourth consecutive quarter that Nissan Motor has reported a loss; the operating profit was a loss of 79.1 billion yen, compared with an operating profit of 1 billion yen in the same period, a decrease of 80.1 billion yen; Nissan Motor’s profit margin was -2.9%, compared with 0% in the same period. To urgently reverse its performance, Nissan Motor has previously announced a major reform. According to the plan, Nissan Motor intends to increase the number of layoffs to 20,000 by the 2027 fiscal year (April 2027 – March 2028), accounting for 15% of the global total workforce. At the same time, Nissan Motor plans to reduce the number of global factories from 17 to 10, streamline powertrain factories, and accelerate post reform. In terms of products, Nissan Motor plans to launch 10 new energy models by the summer of 2027, covering sedans, SUVs, and pickup trucks, and providing diversified power combinations such as fuel, pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended-range, to meet the needs of different markets and consumers.


For Nissan Motor in the domestic market, at a time when competition in China’s new energy vehicle market is increasingly fierce, Nissan’s new energy transformation is facing tests. Judging from the current market performance of the Dongfeng Nissan N7, as a brand-new joint-venture pure electric sedan, its sales performance since its launch is quite reasonable. The official stated that the production schedule of the Dongfeng Nissan N7 in August this year exceeds 10,000 units. With the production capacity exceeding 10,000 units in August, it will better meet market demand. In addition, according to previous reports, Nissan Motor also plans to start exporting electric vehicles from China to markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Central and South America from 2026, with the first batch of exported models being the Nissan N7 under Dongfeng Nissan.


In addition, the official images of the Dongfeng Nissan N6, the second new energy sedan after the release of the Nissan N7 by Dongfeng Nissan, were released on August 10th, and the new car has also completed the new car declaration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is understood that the Dongfeng Nissan N6 is the first plug-in hybrid model built based on the Dongfeng Nissan Tianyan Architecture, positioned as a plug-in hybrid mid-size car. The overall exterior design of the new car adopts a new family design style similar to the Nissan N7, with minimalist design as the core, featuring a strong sense of technology and futuristic feel. In terms of dimensions, the length, width, and height of the new car are 4831/1885/1494mm, with a wheelbase of 2815mm. In terms of power, it is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine produced by Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. with the model number NR15, with a maximum power of 75kW, and a motor with a maximum power of 155kW. It is matched with a lithium iron phosphate battery provided by Rupo Lanjun Energy Co., Ltd., with a battery capacity of 21.1kWh. According to the plan, the new car will be released in the fourth quarter. Industry insiders believe that the Nissan N7 and Nissan N6 are important layouts of Nissan Motor in the new energy field, and everyone is looking forward to the future market performance of the new cars.
