The new Lexus NX was officially launched on August 23. A total of 6 models of the new car are available, with a price range of 299,800 to 509,800 yuan. It is understood that the new car is built on the GA-K platform and retains the design style of the previous model in terms of appearance. The main change is the introduction of the all-new NX 200 model, and a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine is added to the power options, further lowering the entry threshold for purchase.
In terms of appearance, the front face of the new car looks very stylish and atmospheric. It adopts Lexus’ iconic spindle grille, with vertical stripe structures inside the grille, paired with the L-shaped daytime running lights, resulting in a very high visual recognition. The side profile of the car is not much different from the previous model. The new car is available in a variety of exterior colors, among which the new “Yanzhi Li” (Carmine Lychee) color is derived from the flagship GT coupe LC and is made using a multi-layer coating process. The new car will also be offered with black body cladding, black wheel arches, a single sunroof, and black roof rails, giving it an overall powerful look. In terms of dimensions, the new car has a length, width, and height of 4660/1865/1660mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2690mm, positioning it as a mid-size SUV. At the rear, the new car features a layered through-type LED taillight design, and the “LEXUS” logo is added below the taillights, which not only enhances recognition but also highlights the sense of layering at the rear of the new car.
For the interior, the new car is equipped with 9.8/14-inch + 7-inch LCD instruments and adopts the LEXUS Intelligent Safety System LSS+3.0, which integrates multiple core functions such as the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), and Predictive Active Driving Assist (PDA), presenting a full sense of technology.
In terms of power, the new car offers three power options: fuel (NX 200), hybrid (NX 350h), and plug-in hybrid (NX 400h+). Among them, the NX 200 model is equipped with a 2.0L in-line four-cylinder engine + Direct Shift-CVT transmission, with a maximum power of 169 horsepower and a maximum torque of 203 N·m; the NX 350h model is equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, with the engine’s maximum power being 189 horsepower and the system’s combined power being 240 horsepower. The NX 400h+ model has a system combined power of 195kW, and its CLTC pure electric cruising range is 98km and 96km respectively.
The Lexus NX is a luxury mid-size SUV under Lexus and one of the brand’s best-selling models. As a luxury mid-size SUV, the Lexus NX mainly competes in the domestic market with models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLK, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Cadillac XT5.
Looking back at its development history, the development of the Lexus NX in the domestic market can be traced back to 2014. At that time, the first-generation Lexus NX made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show that year and was launched in the fourth quarter of the same year. The new car was built on the TNGA architecture, positioned as a mid-size SUV, and offered three power options: fuel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid, with a price range of 318,800 to 548,800 yuan. The second-generation Lexus NX was released in June 2021 and launched in China in November of the same year. As an all-new generation model, the new car adjusted its appearance and interior and provided various fuel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid power systems. In April 2024, the 2024 Lexus NX was launched, and in November of the same year, a 10th-anniversary special limited edition model was added to the Lexus NX lineup.
As one of Lexus’ best-selling models, data shows that from January to July this year, the cumulative sales of the Lexus NX reached 11,100 units, ranking fourth in the import car list. The top three models are the Lexus ES, Lexus RX, and Mercedes-Benz GLE, with cumulative sales of 68,800 units, 19,300 units, and 19,000 units respectively.
