On October 2, Ora Motors released a “Statement Regarding the Unfounded Information on the Ora Good Cat Traffic Accident in Guizhou Circulating Online.”
Ora Motors stated that recently, there have been claims online about the “brake failure” of the Ora Good Cat. The Ora brand has taken this matter seriously and, in cooperation with its service provider, actively communicated with the vehicle owner. After consultation, the vehicle owner (not the driver) and Ora jointly entrusted the “Guizhou Mingjian Judicial Appraisal Center” for an evaluation. The results are provided below to clarify the facts and dispel any misunderstandings:

On September 8, 2025, in a curve in Chishui City, Guizhou Province, an Ora Good Cat crashed into a residential house, injuring the occupants. During the incident, the airbags deployed normally, and the car doors opened as expected. According to the evaluation report issued by the appraisal center, “the vehicle’s braking and steering functions meet relevant standards.” Data analysis from the report indicated that prior to the accident, no braking action was executed, and the braking signal was not triggered. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s speed quickly increased from 42 km/h to 79 km/h, and the accelerator pedal was fully depressed in an acceleration state.
Previously, Mr. Xu from Chongqing had complained to the media, stating that on September 8, while driving an Ora Good Cat in a sharp uphill curve in Chishui City, Guizhou, the brakes failed, and the steering wheel was locked, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into a residential house. At the time, Mr. Xu, Ms. Tang, and a 74-year-old man, Mr. Tong, whom they had picked up on the way, were in the car, and all three were injured.
Surveillance footage from the accident site shows the vehicle, coming from the top right of the frame, crashing straight into the residential house, with what appears to be the sound of the tires rubbing against the ground during braking. After the accident, Mr. Xu quickly escaped from the driver’s seat and helped Ms. Tang, who was in the front passenger seat, and Mr. Tong, who was in the back seat, out of the car. According to hospital diagnoses, Ms. Tang suffered from a lumbar vertebra L1 fracture and the 6th rib fracture; Mr. Tong sustained a traumatic spleen rupture, multiple bilateral rib fractures, left scapula fracture, and multiple soft tissue contusions; Mr. Xu had soft tissue contusions on both hands and chest. Currently, Mr. Xu and Ms. Tang have been discharged and are recovering at home, while Mr. Tong, due to his age and more severe injuries, is still receiving treatment in the hospital.
