On July 17th, Faraday Future (FF) officially unveiled the FX Super One – the first model under its second brand, Faraday X (FX). Simultaneously, consumer (C-end) pre-orders for the vehicle opened, with a deposit of $100. Positioned as a pure electric mid-to-large MPV, the FX Super One offers three seating configurations: 4-seat GOAT edition, 6-seat edition, and 7-seat edition. It is expected to be priced under $80,000 (approximately RMB 580,000), roll off the production line by the end of 2025, and start deliveries shortly after. Jia Yueting stated that the new model’s price will be lower than that of the Cadillac Escalade, and over 10,034 paid orders had been received during the launch event.
Exterior Design The FX Super One stands out from existing MPVs on the market with its unique design. Its front end features a large integrated grille, which FX brands as an “AI Embodied Intelligent Entity” – a customizable display capable of showing various patterns, though its resolution is slightly lower than that of a standard screen. On both sides of this display are headlight clusters with lenses. The front windshield has a significant tilt angle, and a lidar is mounted on the roof.
On the side profile, the FX Super One boasts an oversized body and a long wheelbase (specific dimensions have not been disclosed). It is equipped with power sliding side doors and multi-spoke rims. At the rear, the vehicle adopts a through-type taillight design composed of an array of FX logos, with the “FX” English emblem below. The taillights feature a split design, complemented by two vertical taillights on both sides, giving the rear a highly distinctive look.
Interior Design Inside the cabin, the new model is fitted with a large full-width display that connects the central control screen and the front passenger screen. Available in 4-seat, 6-seat, and 7-seat layouts:
The 6-seat version adopts a 2+2+2 three-row seating arrangement. Both the second and third rows are equipped with premium seats, each with independent armrests, ensuring spaciousness and comfort.
The 4-seat version features a partition with a TV screen separating the front and rear cabins, paired with more luxurious rear seats.
Powertrain & Key Features FX stated that the FX Super One will offer two powertrain options: pure electric and extended-range. Standard features across all variants include electric all-wheel drive (AWD), zero-gravity seats, EAI OS cockpit system, full-temperature-zone refrigerator, and the EAI Driving system (a full-scenario perception ADAS package). Detailed product specifications are planned to be released by FX during the model’s “final launch”.
Brand Positioning & Market Strategy As FX’s first product, the FX Super One is officially defined by the brand as a “First Class AI-MPV” (literally translated as “First-Class Artificial Intelligence MPV” in Chinese). According to previously released official information from FF, FX aims to become the “Toyota” of the AI electric vehicle (AI EV) market. Unlike FF – which targets the ultra-luxury segment – FX will cater to the mass market. Currently, FX has three models in its pipeline, expected to cover a price range of $20,000 to $80,000. FF anticipates that FX models will become its volume-driven products.
Based on prior official announcements, FX models will also adopt an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) production model. Additionally, FF has signed agreements or memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with four leading Chinese automakers, suggesting that FX models may enter the Chinese market through OEM production for domestic sales in the future.
Market Reactions in China Although the FX Super One made its debut in the U.S. and attracted many American consumers, it also sparked heated discussions in China. Some netizens joked, “Is the large front screen from LeEco?” Others compared it to the Gaoshan MPV under Great Wall Motor’s WEY brand, noting that the overall shape of the FF FX Super One is almost identical to the WEY Gaoshan, except that the front grille is replaced with a large screen. However, some netizens commented, “After replacing the WEY Gaoshan’s front face with a large screen, it suddenly looks much better. What do you think?”
