The first SUV from Ora Cat has arrived

On September 11, Ora Auto announced that its first all-electric SUV is about to debut. From the official teaser images, the new vehicle appears to be the recently filed Ora Cat. Its overall styling continues the design language of the “Cat” family, but its body size is larger than that of the Ora Good Cat. It will also be equipped with hardware such as LiDAR to enhance advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

Based on the declaration drawings, the vehicle’s exterior continues Ora’s signature “Cat” styling. The front features round headlights, a layered hood with pronounced lines, and a large trapezoidal air intake on the lower bumper, flanked by vertically arranged ventilation openings. From the side, the charging port is located on the right front fender, while the sculpted wheel arches create a wide-body visual effect. At the rear, the design is similar to the Good Cat, with a roof spoiler incorporating a high-mounted brake light, taillamps integrated into the rear glass, a central “GWM” badge, “Ora Cat” lettering on the left, and “Great Wall Motor” on the right. In terms of dimensions, the new SUV measures 4471/1833(1844)/1641 mm, with a wheelbase of 2720 mm.

For power, the Ora Cat will use an electric motor supplied by Honeycomb Transmission Technology (Pizhou) Co., Ltd., delivering a maximum output of 150 kW, paired with a Honeycomb Energy LFP short-blade battery pack.

Ora is currently Great Wall Motor’s most challenged brand. Established in 2018, it has carried the mission of leading GWM’s transformation into the new energy vehicle sector. Ora positioned itself with the slogan “More Love for Women,” targeting the female car-buying demographic. Models such as the Black Cat, White Cat, and Good Cat became popular in the 100,000 RMB EV market thanks to their cute styling and strong value for money. However, due to profitability pressures, GWM discontinued the Black Cat and White Cat, leaving only the Good Cat, which led to a sharp sales decline. Later, Ora introduced the Ballet Cat and Lightning Cat, but their higher pricing failed to gain traction in the market. Since 2023, Ora had not launched any new models, effectively pressing pause in the fast-growing EV sector. Currently, Ora’s lineup includes the Good Cat, Lightning Cat, and Ballet Cat, with most sales coming from the Good Cat. From January to August 2025, Ora’s cumulative retail sales reached 14,781 units, of which the Good Cat accounted for 14,290 units, while the other two models only sold in the hundreds.

This is Ora’s first new model launch since 2023, positioned above the Good Cat in both segment and price. For reference, the 2025 Ora Good Cat launched on June 27 with three trims priced at 79,800–99,800 RMB, so the new Ora Cat is expected to start at around 90,000 RMB, possibly higher. According to media reports, Ora Auto plans to rebuild an independent sales network, and Great Wall Motor has mapped out at least four new Ora-branded products with different positioning and distribution strategies compared with the past. Insiders revealed that Ora will pursue a more distinctive brand identity, focusing on technology and a more “hardcore” appeal. While new models will continue some family design traits, Ora will no longer return to the low-cost segment or focus solely on female consumers.
