Targeting the Cullinan! Dreame Unveils Its First SUV

On September 25, Dreame Auto released official images of its first SUV model. According to Dreame Technology, this flagship SUV will benchmark the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. As is well known, the Cullinan is Rolls-Royce’s first SUV, priced between 6.91 and 7.45 million yuan, which means Dreame’s first SUV will also be far from cheap, expected to start at the multi-million yuan level.

Exterior & Interior
From the outside, the SUV has an imposing presence. A large chrome grille paired with slender headlights gives it a commanding aura, while chrome wheels echo the Rolls-Royce Cullinan’s styling and proportions. At the rear, vertically arranged taillights offer a unique look with high recognition when illuminated.

The SUV features a pillarless body structure with rear-hinged coach doors, and a 2+2 four-seat layout. The cabin offers an effective interior length of 3.7 meters, with the second row equipped with independent first-class aviation seats that recline up to 145 degrees, and legroom of up to 1.2 meters.

Technical Details
Dreame Auto also revealed that its second model will be developed on the CTP 4.0 platform, equipped with an extended-range powertrain and a 100 kWh battery pack. It will feature active suspension and 24-degree rear-wheel steering. However, specific performance figures such as horsepower and driving range have not yet been disclosed.

From Smart Appliances to Automobiles
Founded in 2017, Dreame Technology started as part of the Xiaomi ecosystem before developing its own brand and expanding overseas. Its product portfolio spans robot vacuum cleaners, cordless vacuums, smart floor washers, and high-speed hair dryers, sold in over 100 countries and regions, with more than 6,000 offline stores worldwide. Today, it is one of the leading players in China’s smart cleaning industry.

Over the past month, Dreame’s automotive push has advanced at an unexpected pace. On August 28, Dreame Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. formally announced its entry into the automotive sector, joining the ranks of smart appliance companies crossing into car manufacturing.

According to its roadmap:

The first model will benchmark the Bugatti Veyron, positioned as the world’s fastest car, with a prototype to be unveiled at CES 2025.

The second model will be the SUV benchmarking the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Both vehicles are scheduled to launch in 2027.

Financing & German Factory Plans
Less than a month after announcing its entry into the auto industry, Dreame Auto also announced the completion of its first round of financing, though the amount and investors were not disclosed. The funds will support its German factory project and global strategy.

Reportedly, Dreame is scouting factory sites near Tesla’s German plant, with a planned facility size 1.2 times larger than Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory. The aim is to leverage the region’s mature automotive supply chain in precision manufacturing, electronics, and materials science — reducing logistics costs, shortening R&D cycles, and strengthening localized supply chain synergy in Europe. It is rumored that Dreame will partner with BNP Paribas to jointly advance its German factory and global expansion plans.

Challenges & Outlook
Despite its rapid and high-profile entry into carmaking, doubts remain about Dreame’s prospects in the “red ocean” auto market. Automobile manufacturing is highly technology-intensive and capital-intensive, requiring deep R&D strength and a complete supply chain. Dreame has stated that it will leverage its expertise in high-speed digital motors, AI algorithms, and robotic sensing/control technologies to migrate into automotive applications. However, whether these can be successfully adapted and reach industry-leading levels remains uncertain.

Competition in the auto market is fierce, with both traditional automakers and a growing number of EV startups fighting for share. For Dreame Auto, how to stand out in this environment will be a key question. Additionally, given the capital-heavy nature of car manufacturing, Dreame will need significant support from the financial markets.

Dreame believes its entry is well-timed, leveraging its technical capabilities in smart hardware, global sales channels, and brand recognition to leap from “smart appliances” to “ultra-luxury electric vehicles.” For future development, Dreame emphasizes that competitiveness will not come from stacking single performance parameters, but from systematic breakthroughs across categories, scenarios, and ecosystems.
