On August 11th, the 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T/Hi4-Z officially started pre-sale. The new models launched 2 variants with pre-sale prices of 360,000 yuan and 388,800 yuan respectively. As an updated version, the 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T/Hi4-Z has undergone certain adjustments in terms of exterior and interior. The most eye-catching change is the laser radar mounted on the roof, which will be equipped with Great Wall’s third-generation assisted driving system – Coffee Pilot Ultra. In addition, the new car will also offer configurations such as a “refrigerator, color TV, and large sofa”, and driving comfort has been significantly upgraded.

In terms of appearance, the new Tank 500 adjusts the front grille shape on the basis of retaining the outline of the current model. The internal chrome-plated trim strips are arranged in a stacked style, and its design inspiration comes from ancient Chinese architecture. The brand logo also adopts a more flattened design, with a millimeter-wave radar integrated inside. In terms of body color, the new car adds Dunhuang Green, inspired by the color of precious stone green mineral pigments in Dunhuang murals. In addition, the new car also offers Kunlun Gold, Pamir Silver, and Everest White body colors.
On the side of the body, the new car has little change compared with the current model. The main changes are the addition of intelligent driving assistance perception components including laser radar on the roof and fenders. It will be equipped with Great Wall’s third-generation assisted driving system – Coffee Pilot Ultra, adding full-scenario NOA and other functions. In terms of dimensions, its length, width, and height are 5078/1934/1905mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2850mm, which is consistent with the current model. The rear part of the car is also consistent with the current model, mainly replacing the new “GWM TANK” logo.
In terms of interior, the 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T/Hi4-Z generally continues the style of the current model, with adjustments mainly made to details. The front center console still maintains the combination of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel + a 14.6-inch multimedia central control screen + HUD head-up display, with the Coffee OS 3 intelligent operating system built-in. The instrument panel supports a far-infrared night vision system and is replaced with a column-mounted gearshift design. Therefore, the central console will also be equipped with dual 50W wireless charging panels.
In terms of seats, the new car will be equipped with Nappa leather seats. The four seats in the front and rear rows are all equipped with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The backrest of the rear seats supports 25-35 degrees of adjustment and also supports proportional folding, so that the trunk volume can be expanded to 1489L. There will be a 17.3-inch 3K ceiling entertainment screen in the second row, which supports 6 control modes: voice, gesture, touch, mobile phone, remote control, and rear armrest screen. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with a 50W compressor cooling and heating refrigerator, with a maximum adjustment range of -6°C to 50°C.
In terms of power, the 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T/Hi4-Z is consistent with the current model. The 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 185kW. The Tank 500 Hi4-T is equipped with a single motor with a maximum power of 120kW, matched with a 37.1kWh battery pack, and the WLTC pure electric cruising range is 110km; the Tank 500 Hi4-Z is equipped with dual motors with a comprehensive power of 455kW, matched with a 59.05kWh battery pack, and the WLTC pure electric cruising range is 201km, focusing on pan-off-road attributes. In addition, the Tank 500 currently also has a fuel version on sale, equipped with a 3.0T V6 engine with a maximum power of 265kW and a peak torque of 500N·m, matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission. However, the official has not clearly stated whether the fuel version will be retained in the new Tank 500.
From the perspective of product positioning and power form, the fuel version of the Tank 500 mainly competes with FAW Toyota Prado, Changan Ford Explorer, etc., while the Tank 500 Hi4-T/Hi4-Z mainly competes with Fangchengbao Leopard 8. Retail data shows that from January to July 2025, the cumulative sales of the Tank 500 new energy vehicles were 22,891 units, with monthly sales basically around 3,000 units, second only to the Tank 300, while the fuel version was 1,035 units, ranking at the bottom of the Tank brand. It is still unknown whether the fuel version of the Tank 500 will be retained.
