In recent years, the BYD Dolphin has successfully sparked the market for electric vehicles priced around 100,000 yuan, thanks to its refined design and excellent cost-performance ratio. It once became the sales benchmark in this segment. However, with the continuous emergence of similar models, the Dolphin’s sales rankings have gradually declined since last year, and its market competitiveness is facing challenges. In order to regain its market position, BYD is accelerating the development and launch of the new generation Dolphin.

Since its official launch on August 29, 2021, the Dolphin has been on the market for four years. In February of this year, with the release of the intelligent driving version, BYD also updated the Dolphin, adding more features, but the sales did not see a significant increase. This further highlights the urgency of launching a completely new generation of the Dolphin.
Recently, spy shots of the all-new Dolphin have been leaked online. From the photos, it is clear that the new car has undergone significant changes in its exterior design. The all-new Dolphin returns to a classic hatchback shape, abandoning the crossover style of the current model, which resembles an MPV. The most noticeable change is the removal of the separate triangular window in the A-pillar, while retaining the thick C-pillar.
The front end has been redesigned, possibly featuring a new through-type daytime running light. The front headlights have also been upgraded with lens designs, and the front bumper has become more robust. The blackened wheel rims on the side add a sporty touch, while the side mirrors are still located on the doors, and the semi-hidden door handles remain.
Currently, there is no more detailed technical information about the car, but it is expected that the new model will feature upgrades to the motor and battery systems to enhance performance and range, while further optimizing space utilization.
