The first car of Xiaomi SU7 began to be delivered, with a daily output of 300 vehicles.

On the morning of April 3, the first batch of owners’ delivery ceremony of Xiaomi’s first model, Xiaomi SU7, was held in the general assembly workshop of Xiaomi Automobile Factory in Yizhuang, Beijing. Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, personally attended the delivery event, personally handed over the car to the first batch of owners, opened the car door for Xiaomi owners on the spot and took a group photo, which attracted great attention in the industry.

At the scene, Lei Jun said: “Today is a special day. I believe that many years from now, everyone will definitely still remember today. Xiaomi Cars officially debuts, and the Chinese smart car industry will definitely be rewritten. China will give birth to car factories like Tesla.”

This morning, Lei Jun posted: “The bold words of three years ago have become a reality today. I will personally hand over a brand-new Xiaomi SU7 to the first batch of owners. From today, Xiaomi officially becomes a car factory. Should I be called Lei Factory Director now?”

It is understood that Xiaomi SU7 was listed on March 28, and a total of three models, the standard version, the Pro version, and the Max version, were launched, with a price range of 215,900 -299,900 RMB.

As Xiaomi’s first model, Xiaomi SU7 is built on Xiaomi Automobile Modena platform architecture, positioned as a C-class high-performance ecological technology sedan. It provides dual-motor and single-motor versions for power. Among them, Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a maximum power of 299 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 N·m, with a CLTC pure electric range of 668 kilometers, and the system supports 400-volt fast charging; Xiaomi SU7 Max is equipped with a front and rear dual-motor system with a maximum power of 673 horsepower and a maximum torque of 838 N·m, with a CLTC pure electric range of 800 kilometers.

Xiaomi SU7 is Xiaomi Group’s first foray into the new energy vehicle market, so the launch of this car has attracted the attention of many consumers. Official data shows that after Xiaomi SU7 was opened for reservation, 10,000 large reservations were broken in 4 minutes, 20,000 large reservations in 7 minutes, and as high as 50,000 large reservations in 27 minutes. On March 29, Xiaomi Automobile officially released that the number of large reservations for Xiaomi SU7 in 24 hours after its launch reached 88,898. At 12:00 noon on April 1, the second round of additional sales of the founding edition of Xiaomi Automobile SU7 was sold out in seconds.

At this Xiaomi SU7 delivery ceremony, Lei Jun revealed that in just a few days since Xiaomi SU7 was launched, there have been more than 100,000 large reservations, and the number of locked orders has exceeded 40,000. That is to say, as of April 3, the lock rate of Xiaomi SU7 has exceeded 40%.

It should be noted that while Xiaomi SU7 is selling well, it also faces the problem of extended delivery cycles. On April 2, Xiaomi Automobile officially released “Xiaomi Automobile Answers to Netizens’ Questions (Episode 5)”, and responded to 15 issues such as those who have paid in full but the delivery staff has not specified the delivery time, whether some people’s cancellation of Xiaomi SU7 means that they can pick up the car faster, the pick-up sequence, what after-sales rights and interests can be enjoyed after purchasing a car, whether Xiaomi SU7 will introduce interest-free or preferential policies, and the online revelation that there are abnormal noises and leaks during the test drive of Xiaomi SU7.

Regarding “the current data shows that some people have cancelled their orders for Xiaomi SU7, does this mean that it will be possible to pick up the car faster?”, the official said that it is currently in a state of explosive orders, with continuous new lock orders added every day, and the orders will be produced and delivered in the order of the final lock time. If the order has been locked, if there are locked-in customers in the same city with the same configuration who fail to pick up the car due to their own reasons in the front, the vehicle may be arranged for faster delivery of vehicle resources; if the order has not been locked, the expected delivery cycle will be calculated based on the final lock time and the current capacity and material situation.

In response to “how is the arrangement of the pick-up sequence, is it definitely in the order of the lock-in for the same configuration?”, the official said that the orders will be produced in the order of the final lock-in time, and for the orders with the same city and the same configuration, the vehicles will be delivered in the order of the lock-in.

In response to “seeing on some social platforms that there are interest-free or preferential policies for Xiaomi SU7, are they true?”, the official said that there are currently no additional preferential policies on Xiaomi’s official channels.

In addition, in response to “there are videos on the Internet claiming that during the test drive of Xiaomi SU7, abnormal noises and leaks were found. What is the situation?”, the official also responded. The official said: “After investigation and confirmation, the actual situation is: around 11:30 a.m. on April 1, the staff of Xiaomi’s car store in Xiamen stopped the car due to an abnormal noise during the test drive with customers. It was found that the whole vehicle was in a stable state and there was no abnormality in the chassis, so the car was driven back to the store normally; after a detailed inspection in the store, it was found that a stone had invaded the brake disc position, causing abnormal noise; after the stone was removed, the abnormal noise disappeared and returned to normal. As for the water marks around the body, it is a normal phenomenon because of the recent rain in Xiamen and the vehicle has driven through the waterlogged area. After inspection, there is no leakage of the whole vehicle, no leak points are found, the water level of the kettle is normal, and there are no related liquid level alarm fault lights prompt.”

It is reported that previously, Xiaomi Automobiles originally planned to produce about 5,000 vehicles in April, with a daily output of less than 300 vehicles. Currently, Xiaomi is in urgent consultation with suppliers in the hope of improving production capacity. With the surge in orders, the delivery time of various versions of Xiaomi SU7 has been extended. The latest information on Xiaomi Automobile App shows that as of April 3, the expected delivery cycle for the standard version of Xiaomi SU7 after locking the order is 21-24 weeks, 20-23 weeks for the Pro version, and up to 29-32 weeks for the Max version.

In response to the capacity bottleneck, Xiaomi Automobiles responded to the media, saying that currently, the Xiaomi Automobile factory is making every effort to increase production capacity, and fully mobilize supply chain partners to ensure supply and stable the delivery of existing orders and the processing of future orders to ensure the delivery experience of users.

Or affected by the news of the official delivery of Xiaomi SU7 and the unexpected orders, on April 2, Xiaomi Group opened with a 16% jump, and the market value once rose by more than 50 billion, setting the largest intraday increase since March 2022.
