The interior has been revealed! Leapmotor Lafa5 makes its domestic debut

On October 11, Leapmotor’s new model, the Leapmotor Lafa5, officially made its debut in China, unveiling its interior design for the first time. Prior to this, the vehicle had made its global debut at the 2025 Munich Auto Show, where blind bookings were opened. As a brand-new model, the Lafa5 is built on the LEAP 3.5 platform and is positioned as a pure electric compact car. It adopts the family design language of Leapmotor and will offer both standard and Ultra versions. The car is powered by an all-electric powertrain, with a maximum range of 605 km, and the higher-end model features a lidar system. It is expected that pre-sales will begin in November, with the car officially launching in the fourth quarter, and the Ultra version is projected to be delivered in the first half of next year.

Let’s take a closer look at the interior design, which has been revealed for the first time. The Lafa5 offers three interior color options: Speed Purple, Racing Gray, and Competition Gray, with the Competition Gray color available for the higher-end models. The interior features extensive use of soft materials, with matte gunmetal chrome trims across the vehicle. The design exudes a youthful and modern look. Key interior features include a floating all-digital instrument cluster and central display, a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and a shift-by-wire gear selector. The dashboard’s air vents are accented with gold trim, adding a techy touch. For driver assistance, the higher-end model will be equipped with lidar.

Regarding the exterior design, the vehicle continues to follow Leapmotor’s family design language but incorporates more international design elements, making it visually bold and avant-garde. The front features a closed grille and a prominent continuous light strip, with discontinuous daytime running lights inside, which are highly recognizable when lit. The front bumper has multiple horizontal vents and offers an active grille shutter (AGS), with a black sport-style front lip that adds a dynamic and layered appearance. Compared to the standard version, the Ultra version has a sportier body kit, including a larger segmented rear spoiler and matte-finished exclusive paint, adding to its aggressive sportiness.

From the side, the Lafa5 has a sleek, rounded design with a fastback shape, frameless doors, hidden door handles, black exterior mirrors, and 19-inch aerodynamic sport wheels, presenting a strong sporty yet fashionable appeal. The vehicle is available in six colors: Electric Yellow, Windstorm Gray, Starry Night Blue, Morgan Pink, Galaxy Silver, and Metallic Black. Of these, Electric Yellow and Windstorm Gray are exclusive to the Lafa5.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4430 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1520 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2735 mm. The official specifications state that the car has a 50:50 front-to-rear axle load ratio. For comparison, the new MG4 has dimensions of 4395 mm in length, 1842 mm in width, 1551 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2750 mm. At the rear, the car features a flying wing starburst-style continuous taillight design, with the “LEAPMOTOR” logo in the center of the tailgate to further enhance the vehicle’s recognition. Additionally, it has a large segmented rear spoiler, paired with a fastback design, giving the car an even stronger visual impact.

Now, let’s look at the powertrain. According to declaration information, the standard version of the Lafa5 is equipped with a single-motor system, with a maximum power output of 132 kW and 160 kW, offering two range options: 515 km and 605 km. As a compact pure electric vehicle, the Lafa5 is targeted at young, tech-savvy consumers, boasting competitive designs, technology, and performance. However, the market for electric vehicles is becoming increasingly competitive, especially with the widespread penetration of new energy vehicles. The Lafa5 will face intense competition from models like the Volkswagen ID.3, Firefly, and the recently launched MG4. Pricing will be key to determining the Lafa5’s performance in the market.

Since its inception, Leapmotor has launched several models, including the Leapmotor C11, T03, C16, C10, C01, B10, and B01. The B and C series vehicles are priced in the 100,000-200,000 yuan range. Leapmotor’s B-series models, such as the B10 and B01, which launched in April and July this year, respectively, are expected to contribute significantly to the company’s sales growth this year. Furthermore, Leapmotor’s new flagship vehicle, the D19, will have its global debut on October 16.
