The new vehicle filing images for Volkswagen Anhui and the Zhong 07 have been revealed!

In the latest new car filing catalog published on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s official website, Automotive Industry Focus has found the new model under Volkswagen Anhui — the Yuzhong 07, listed in the filing catalog. As a new model, the Yuzhong 07 is the first product based on an all-new electronic and electrical architecture, positioned as a pure electric sedan. The vehicle’s dimensions are larger compared to the Yuzhong 06, and it continues to feature pure electric power. The new car is expected to launch in 2026.

From the filing images, the new car adopts the Yuzhong family design language, which looks younger and more dynamic compared to traditional Volkswagen models. Specifically, the front features a closed grille with a continuous light strip design, and the headlights on both sides use a high-recognition triangular light source layout. The golden Volkswagen logo embedded in the center of the grille is highly distinguishable when lit. The front is also accented with raised muscle lines, giving the car a powerful look. The front bumper is equipped with large air ducts, integrated with black trim and surrounded by a blackened treatment, creating an aggressive visual effect.

On the side, the new car is designed with smooth lines that present a swooping posture, creating a floating roof visual effect. The door handles are expected to be hidden, and several lines are added at the bottom of the door to enhance its three-dimensional and fashionable feel. According to the filing information, the car offers three wheel designs, with tire sizes of either 235/50 R19 or 235/45 R20. At the rear, the car adopts a continuous light strip design, with the Volkswagen logo also featuring a glowing design and a golden Volkswagen emblem, offering high recognition when lit. The tailgate features the “Volkswagen” badge on the left and the “Yuzhong 07” lettering on the right, further confirming the vehicle’s identity.

In terms of size, the new car measures 4853/1852/1566 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2826 mm. In comparison, the Yuzhong 06 measures 4663/1860/1610 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2766 mm, positioning it as a compact SUV. In contrast, the new Yuzhong 07 is larger than the Yuzhong 06, and it is expected that rear passengers will enjoy ample legroom, making it suitable for family use.

For power, the new car is currently filed with a single-motor version, equipped with an EEK motor with a maximum power of 170 kW, which is the same as the Yuzhong 06. It is expected that a dual-motor version will be added later. The car will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries from Guoxuan High-Tech.

Volkswagen Anhui Co., Ltd. was established in 2017 as a joint venture between Volkswagen Group and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group. It is Volkswagen’s first joint venture in China focused on new energy vehicles. In December 2020, Volkswagen increased its stake in Jianghuai Volkswagen Co., Ltd. to 75% as part of a strategic investment and took over the company’s management, officially renaming the joint venture as Volkswagen Anhui Co., Ltd. The ID. Yuzhong series is a new product line developed by Volkswagen Anhui, set to launch in July 2024, with three models priced between 209,900 and 249,900 RMB. Unlike previous ID. series models, the ID. Yuzhong features a golden Volkswagen logo, and the car’s design is more aggressive and dynamic, setting it apart from other ID. series vehicles.

In April of this year, Volkswagen Anhui launched the Yuzhong 06, with four models priced between 189,900 and 249,900 RMB. The Yuzhong 06 can be considered the 2025 model of the ID. Yuzhong series, with a new naming convention and several upgrades in configuration, including the addition of a new entry-level Pure model and new exterior color options. The powertrain includes both single-motor and dual-motor options. The single-motor version offers a maximum motor power of 170 kW, while the dual-motor version has a front motor with a maximum power of 80 kW and a rear motor with a maximum power of 170 kW. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate pack with a capacity of 53.6 kWh for the Pure model, offering a CLTC range of 426 km. The Pro, Ultra, and Max models are equipped with a 80.2 kWh ternary lithium battery, offering ranges of 614 km and 555 km respectively, depending on the model.

The Yuzhong 07 being filed is the second model from Volkswagen Anhui. It is expected to launch next year. The success of the Yuzhong 07 in reshaping the mid-size pure electric sedan market will likely depend on its pricing, which is expected to play a decisive role. Reports suggest that Volkswagen Anhui will introduce three new models, including SUVs and sedans, next year.
