October 16 Report – Leap Motor D19, a brand-new model from Leap Motor, was officially unveiled on the evening of October 15. The new car is the first model built on Leap Motor’s D platform and is positioned as a six-seat flagship large SUV. It will become Leap Motor’s new flagship model, equipped with LiDAR and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 dual chips. In terms of power, it offers both pure electric and range-extended versions, with the range-extended version achieving a pure electric range of up to 500 km. According to Leap Motor Senior Vice President, Cao Li, the new car has the strength to compete with models priced over 500,000 RMB.

Exterior Design
The Leap Motor D19 adopts the brand’s signature design style, with a robust, full-bodied appearance and a luxurious feel. Specifically, the front features the iconic Leap Motor continuous light strip and split headlamp design, with segmented lights that provide high recognition when illuminated. It also includes assistance driving blue lights and ISD smart interactive lighting functions, offering an eye-catching visual effect. The front bumper is equipped with an AGS active air intake grille, and the roof is fitted with LiDAR. Additionally, side-view cameras are mounted on the front fenders.
Notably, the new car comes with a large-sized front trunk, fully controlled electronically, capable of fitting two 20-inch suitcases. The car’s lines and posture give off a stable and commanding presence.
From the side, the car features flat roofline design, and the side windows are flush with the body, enhancing the luxurious feel. The car is equipped with hidden door handles, half-enclosed large wheel rims, and offers an optional roof rack. The wheels are Continental EC7S tires, sized 265/45 R21, giving the car a solid and grand look. As the new flagship model, the car exceeds 5.2 meters in length, is nearly 2 meters wide, and has a wheelbase over 3.1 meters. It is available in five colors: Song Valley Green, Liquid Silver, Metallic Black, Sky Grey, and Photoelectric White.
Rear Design
The rear design is distinctive, with dual-layered continuous tail light strips. Users can create custom patterns, paired with transparent light covers and the Leap Motor brand English logo to enhance the vehicle’s recognition. The rear bumper is body-colored, and the car is equipped with a roof spoiler and hidden rear wiper, with the license plate holder located on the rear bumper, enhancing both luxury and sporty appeal.
Interior
At the launch event, the official interior layout was not disclosed. However, it is known that the cabin is based on the LEAP4.0 central domain control architecture, equipped with two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 chips, providing 1280 TOPS of computing power. This enables the end-side large model cockpit and VLA assisted driving functions. The seating configuration is a six-seat layout.
Powertrain
The car offers both range-extended and pure electric powertrains:
The range-extended version uses 800V CTC range-extender technology and intelligent range-extending four-wheel drive, with a total system power of 400 kW and an 80.2 kWh battery, offering a pure electric range of over 500 km.
The pure electric version is built on a 1000V high-voltage platform, equipped with a 115 kWh battery, offering a maximum range of 720 km.
Market Competition
As the new flagship model from Leap Motor, the D19 will face stiff competition, especially with the increasing number of automakers entering the full-size SUV market starting in 2025. The D19 is expected to compete with models such as the Geely Galaxy M9, DeepBlue S09, Ledo L90, and GAC Aion S9.
Leap Motor’s Growth
To date, Leap Motor has released models like the Leap C11, Leap T03, Leap C16, Leap C10, Leap C01, Leap B10, and Leap B01. The B-series and C-series models are priced between 100,000 to 200,000 RMB, and the B-series models, newly launched this year, are expected to contribute significantly to Leap Motor’s sales growth for the year. The Leap B10 and Leap B01, launched in April and July, are positioned as compact SUVs and compact sedans, respectively.
According to official data, Leap Motor’s total sales in the first nine months of this year reached 395,500 units, a 128.81% increase year-on-year. In September, the company saw a 97.4% growth compared to last year, delivering 66,700 units, setting a new monthly delivery record for new energy vehicle companies. The company has led the new energy vehicle delivery rankings for seven consecutive months. Leap Motor aims to achieve annual sales of 500,000 to 600,000 units and aims to become profitable by the end of the year.
