On October 15, Changan Qiyuan officially opened blind pre-orders for its brand-new small all-electric SUV — the all-new Qiyuan Q05. According to reports, the new Qiyuan Q05 is not the same model as the previously launched Qiyuan Q05, despite sharing the same name. The earlier version is a compact plug-in hybrid SUV, while the new one is positioned as a small pure-electric SUV. The all-new Q05 was developed by the Klaus-led design team with a global approach and is built on the Tianchu all-electric architecture. The entire lineup comes standard with LiDAR, and the model offers a maximum CLTC driving range of 506 km. The vehicle is expected to make its official debut at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show.

Exterior Design
The all-new Qiyuan Q05 adopts Changan Qiyuan’s “Digital Wing 2.0” design language, giving it a distinct and recognizable appearance. The front features a closed-off grille and split headlight clusters, with a full-width LED daytime running light design. Five exterior colors are available — Pine Green, Flowing Gold Purple, Moonlight Silver, Cloud Shadow Gray, and Cloud Brocade White — catering to a variety of aesthetic preferences.
On the sides, the Q05 uses semi-hidden door handles and eliminates the traditional rear quarter window, replacing it with a thicker C-pillar. The charging port is located on the left front fender. At the rear, the SUV features a through-type taillight design, a new illuminated logo at the center, a roof-mounted brake light, and a rear spoiler. Its dimensions are 4,435 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,600 mm (or 1,595 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, positioning it as a small SUV.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the new Q05 offers two interior color themes — Obsidian Black and Jade White. It comes equipped with a 10.17-inch floating digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. The vehicle features the Tianchu Intelligent Cockpit system, powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity MT8676 chip, supporting on-device large language models, 5G connectivity, and integration with iFlytek’s Spark large model voice assistant.
Soft-touch materials are used extensively on the dashboard, door panels, and auxiliary instrument areas to enhance the vehicle’s premium feel.
Comfort and Practicality
The new Q05 has a five-seat configuration. The front seats feature eight-point massage, ventilation, and heating functions, while the passenger seat includes a leg rest and supports reclining up to 165 degrees. The standard trunk volume is 540 liters, expandable to 1,380 liters with the rear seats folded down. Official data states there are 29 storage compartments throughout the cabin.
Powertrain and Range
As the first small all-electric SUV from the newly restructured state-owned Changan Auto Group, the new Qiyuan Q05 is built on a pure-electric platform. It is powered by an electric motor (model TZ180XS002) produced by Chongqing Qingshan Industry Co., Ltd., delivering a maximum output of 120 kW.
The vehicle uses batteries supplied by Times Changan (a CATL subsidiary) and offers two configurations — 40.29 kWh and 51.91 kWh — providing CLTC ranges of 405 km and 506 km, respectively. It supports 3C fast charging, capable of charging from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
Positioning and Market Strategy
Previously, in December 2023, Changan Qiyuan launched the original Q05 — a compact plug-in hybrid SUV and the brand’s first SUV — with prices ranging from RMB 96,900 to 112,900. That model has since been renamed “Qiyuan Q05 Classic.” The new Qiyuan Q05, however, is a completely different model: a small all-electric SUV and the first SUV launched after Changan’s restructuring as a “new central SOE.” It is expected that both versions — the Classic and the new electric Q05 — will be sold side by side.
Changan Qiyuan’s lineup currently includes the A07, Q07, Q05, A05, A06, E07, and Changan Lumin, covering most sedan and SUV segments. However, the small pure-electric SUV category had remained a gap in its portfolio. As Changan’s first global SUV after becoming a new central enterprise, the all-new Q05 will further enrich its SUV product line and will later be exported to markets in Southeast Asia, Europe, Central and South America, and other regions.
Competing models in the same class include the BYD Yuan UP, Baojun Yueye Plus, Wuling Bingo Plus, and Dongfeng Nano 06. According to retail data, in September 2025, the BYD Yuan UP sold 25,919 units — far ahead of its competitors.
