On July 29, Chery Group’s premium brand Exeed officially released the first images of its brand-new mid-size SUV, the Sterra E05. As an all-new model, the vehicle introduces a fresh design language and is highlighted by its debut of Horizon HSD (Horizon Super Driving) and the Journey 6P driver-assistance solution. It comes equipped with LiDAR, 12 radars, and multiple high-definition cameras, while under the hood it adopts a range-extended hybrid powertrain.

Exterior Design
Based on both homologation images and the newly released official photos, the Sterra E05 features a smooth and full-bodied silhouette. The front adopts a closed-off grille, flanked by sharp split headlights incorporating three LED light strips, creating a strong visual impact. The brand’s English logo is prominently displayed at the center, enhancing recognition. The front bumper employs a black grille layout, emphasizing a sporty character.
From the side, the SUV features multiple body lines to create a three-dimensional look, paired with conventional door handles and a standard sunroof. According to previous filings, the model will offer 18-, 19-, and 20-inch wheels. Dimensionally, it measures 4,780 × 1,890 × 1,725 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, placing it in the mid-size SUV segment. It will feature a five-seat layout. At the rear, the SUV adopts a full-width taillight design, which, when illuminated, presents a segmented light effect. The central section also carries the English brand logo. Additional details include a shark-fin antenna and a roof spoiler. The exhaust adopts a hidden layout.
Powertrain & Technology
The Sterra E05 uses a range-extended hybrid system with a range extender (model SQRH4J15) delivering 115 kW of maximum output, paired with a 32.659 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. It offers a pure-electric CLTC range of 165 km.
More notably, it comes equipped with Horizon’s urban driving assistance system (HSD) powered by the Journey 6P chip, along with LiDAR, 12 radars, and multiple HD cameras for advanced driver-assistance capabilities.
Positioning & Market Outlook
According to Huang Zhaogen, General Manager of Exeed’s Marketing Center, the Sterra E05 has been designed with family users as its ultimate target audience, offering a class-leading smart cockpit and advanced assisted driving systems. With its intelligent features, the SUV is expected to provide a strong driving-assistance experience. Positioned as a mid-size range-extended SUV, the Sterra E05 will compete against rivals such as the Deepal S07 EREV and the Leapmotor C11 EREV. The model is expected to make its global debut in the second half of this year.
