Officially launched! The pricing for the mid-cycle facelift Ora Good Cat is announced

On June 27, the 2025 Ora Good Cat was officially launched, with three variants available, priced between ¥79,800 and ¥99,800. At the same time, the 2025 Ora Good Cat GT Magnolia Edition was also launched, with two variants priced at ¥92,800 and ¥102,800, respectively. The 2025 Ora Good Cat mainly features upgrades to the front face and interior. For reference, the 2024 Ora Good Cat was priced between ¥105,800 and ¥135,800.

In terms of appearance, the 2025 Ora Good Cat retains the closed front face and round headlights but has made adjustments to the front bumper design. The air intake area has been expanded to the middle position of the license plate holder, with a horizontal chrome trim strip. The two sides of the front end also feature additional vents. The overall front design has shifted from a cute look to a smiling face, making it even more adorable. The exterior colors include Point Green, Brilliant Green, Coral Pink, Tahiti Gray, Jadeite Green, and Dongzhu White.

From the side and rear, the 2025 Ora Good Cat is largely similar to the previous model, though the rear “ORA” badge has been replaced with the “GWM” logo, representing Great Wall Motors. According to filing information, the 2025 Ora Good Cat’s dimensions are 4242 (4254) / 1825 (1848) / 1632 mm, with a wheelbase of 2650 mm. Compared to the current model, the length, width, and height have all increased, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. The 2025 Ora Good Cat GT Magnolia Edition largely follows the design of the current model, with only the rear badge changed to “GWM” from “ORA.”

Inside, the 2025 Ora Good Cat features a two-tone interior design, with color options including Sandwood Brown, Qingluo Green, and Shiqing Jade. The interior has been upgraded with a 14.6-inch floating central display, running the Coffee OS 3.2 in-car system. The car still has a continuous air vent design and retains the lever-style control buttons. It also comes with a new dual-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a column-style gearshift mechanism. Additionally, the 2025 Ora Good Cat has upgraded to a 10.25-inch floating instrument display, simplifying the steering wheel controls. The vehicle also comes with wireless phone charging in the armrest area and dual cup holders to enhance user convenience.

For power, both the 2025 Ora Good Cat and Ora Good Cat GT are equipped with a 126 kW drive motor and a 45.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with a CLTC range of 430 km. For reference, the previous models offered two motor power options: 105 kW and 135 kW, with battery capacities of 47.8 kWh and 57.71 kWh, respectively, offering a CLTC range of 401 km and 501 km.

From a market perspective, the 2025 Ora Good Cat is priced lower than the previous model, with a price reduction of over ¥10,000, possibly pushing the final price to around ¥80,000, which is intended to stimulate sales. Competitors include the BYD Dolphin, which sold 45,016 units from January to May 2025. After the facelift, the Dolphin remains a strong competitor, with the two models being similar in terms of size, positioning, and range. Another competitor is the Aion UT, currently priced from ¥69,800. Compared to the past, there are now more competitors in the small pure electric car segment, and Ora will need to employ more strategies to win over consumers.

Ora is currently the most challenging brand for Great Wall Motors. Since its establishment in 2018, it has played a key role in Great Wall Motors’ transition to the new energy vehicle sector. Ora initially positioned itself as a brand “more loved by women,” targeting the niche female car market with models like the Black Cat, White Cat, and Good Cat. These models became popular in the ¥100,000 electric vehicle market thanks to their cute designs and high cost-performance ratio. However, due to profitability concerns, Great Wall Motors discontinued the Black Cat and White Cat, leaving only the Ora Good Cat. This strategy led to a sharp decline in Ora’s sales, and the brand later introduced the Ballet Cat and Lightning Cat models, but their higher pricing failed to attract the market. Since 2023, Ora has not launched any new models, seemingly pausing in the rapidly growing new energy vehicle market. Currently, the models on sale are the Ora Good Cat, Lightning Cat, and Ballet Cat, with the majority of sales coming from the Good Cat. Retail data shows that from January to May 2025, Ora sold a total of 5,242 units, with 4,945 units of the Ora Good Cat, while the other two models sold only a few hundred units each.

According to media reports, Ora Auto plans to rebuild its independent channel, with Great Wall Motors planning at least four new products under the Ora brand. The positioning and channel strategy for these new products will differ from previous models. Currently, Haval, Tank, and WEY are focusing on hybrid models, while Ora remains the only Great Wall Motors brand dedicated to pure electric vehicles. Sources familiar with the matter suggest that Ora’s future positioning will be more distinctive, emphasizing technology and a more “hardcore” approach. Future Ora products will continue to incorporate family design elements but will no longer focus on low-cost vehicles or exclusively target the female market. As of now, Great Wall Motors and Ora have not responded to the related reports.
