Xiaomi Auto Responds to Recall of Over 116,000 SU7 Units

According to the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, due to an issue with certain SU7 Standard Edition vehicles, when the L2 highway pilot assist function is activated in some scenarios, there may be insufficient recognition, warning, or handling of extreme situations. If the driver does not intervene in time, it may increase the risk of collision, posing a safety hazard. As a result, Xiaomi Auto has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting today, over 116,000 SU7 units will be recalled.

The recalled vehicles are some SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles produced between February 6, 2024, and August 30, 2025, totaling 116,887 units. The recall numbers are S2025M0149I for 98,462 units (models XMA7000MBEVR2 and XMA7000MBEVR2) and S2025M0150I for 18,425 units (model BJ7000MBEVR2).

The official statement says that the vehicles within the recall scope will receive free software upgrades through remote over-the-air (OTA) updates to eliminate the safety risk.

In response to the large-scale recall, Xiaomi’s official statement said: “This OTA software upgrade recall aims to further improve the reliability of the assistive driving function, including optimizing speed control strategies and adding a dynamic speed feature, making highway pilot assist more seamless. Although this upgrade does not require physical parts to be replaced, we are still managing and filing the recall according to the procedures.” Xiaomi Auto added that this OTA software upgrade recall is only for certain Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition models produced before August 30, 2025, and does not affect other versions of the Xiaomi SU7.

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun also posted, “Xiaomi Auto’s OTA fall version upgrade starts today! The Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 will upgrade simultaneously!”

According to the data, the recalled vehicles are Xiaomi’s first car model, which was launched on March 28 last year. The new car is a pure electric sedan and is available in Standard, Pro, and Max versions, with prices of 215,900 yuan( 30,226 USD), 245,900 yuan(34,426 USD) and 299,900 yuan(41,986 USD), respectively. Data shows that Xiaomi SU7’s cumulative sales in 2024 reached 136,854 units. In August of this year, the latest sales figure for the Xiaomi SU7 was 19,848 units.
