Around 7 a.m. on October 17, a car accident occurred on Chegu Avenue in Wuhan, Hubei: a Xiaomi SU7 lost control, crashed into the median barrier, and crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with a delivery van. The left front wheel axle of the vehicle broke, and the tire flew off, attracting widespread public attention.

According to footage from the scene, after the left front wheel axle of the Xiaomi SU7 broke, the tire was thrown a considerable distance, and the vehicle’s wreckage, along with debris from the barrier, was scattered across the road. Traffic during the morning rush hour was forced to stop for up to two hours. During the investigation, Xiaomi’s Wuhan-area 4S dealership and official customer service stated that they “had not received any information” or would “act based on the actual situation.”
The Xiaomi SU7 is the first car from Xiaomi Auto, launched on March 28 last year. The new car is available in three models, with prices ranging from ¥215,900 to ¥299,900. As of September 2025, data shows that a total of 265,000 Xiaomi SU7 units had been delivered, achieving 76% of the annual target of 350,000 units.
