Recently, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda confirmed that the first-ever supercar from Toyota’s GR performance division — the GR GT — will officially debut on December 4. The new model will serve as the flagship sports car of the Toyota family, and was previously teased in promotional posters at Japan’s Fuji Speedway. It is widely regarded as the spiritual successor to the Lexus LFA, featuring a V8 twin-turbocharged hybrid powertrain that combines a powerful combustion engine with an electric motor. The GR GT is also scheduled for a public unveiling at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will be held from January 10 to 12.

A New Flagship Inspired by Legends
In earlier teasers, Toyota showcased the GR GT alongside the legendary 2000GT and LFA, symbolically positioning it as the next-generation halo car in Toyota’s performance lineage — a model destined to become another modern classic for the brand.
Exterior Design
The new GR GT features a long, sculpted front end designed to accommodate its twin-turbo V8 engine. The headlights incorporate sleek LED daytime running lights, while the front bumper adopts a three-section aerodynamic design, emphasizing both aggression and precision. The wheels sport a dual five-spoke layout, reinforcing its track-oriented character.
Interior Design
Inside, the GR GT adopts a driver-focused cockpit with a traditional layout enhanced by modern digital elements. Expect a fully digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke multifunctional sports steering wheel, and a floating central touchscreen flanked by a row of physical control buttons for tactile operation. The ultra-thin carbon-fiber bucket seats add to the car’s lightweight ethos, giving the cabin a pure racing atmosphere.
Versions and Performance
According to current information, the GR GT will be offered in two variants:
A road-going version optimized for performance and everyday usability.
A track-focused version equipped with more extreme aerodynamic components and a large rear wing, designed for maximum downforce and track performance.
With its blend of heritage, technology, and raw performance, the Toyota GR GT is set to become a new symbol of the brand’s racing spirit when it makes its global debut this December.
