BYD’s September Sales Released

On October 1, BYD released its latest sales data. In September, BYD sold 396,270 vehicles, and from January to September this year, cumulative sales reached 3,260,146 units, an increase of 18.64% compared with the same period last year. Among them, passenger car sales in September were 393,060 units, with cumulative sales this year at 3,218,862 units, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%. Overseas sales of passenger cars and pickups reached 70,851 units in September, bringing the total this year to 701,579 units.



Currently, BYD has four major brands: BYD, Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang. Breaking down sales by brand: the Dynasty and Ocean networks remain BYD’s main sales sources, with combined sales of 355,774 units in September. The Dynasty Network sold 162,651 units in September, with cumulative sales of 1,366,770 units this year. The best-selling model in the Dynasty lineup was the Qin, with 67,577 units sold in September and 458,351 units sold so far this year. Other models included Yuan, Song, Tang, Han, and Xia, with September sales of 45,291, 24,089, 13,620, 8,690, and 3,384 units respectively.

The Ocean Network sold 189,364 units in September, with cumulative sales this year reaching 1,589,036 units. Notably, several Ocean Network models each sold over 10,000 units in September. The Dolphin and Sealion achieved 53,992 and 53,279 units respectively, accounting for more than half of Ocean Network’s sales. Overall, the Dynasty and Ocean networks continue to support BYD’s September sales, together delivering 355,774 units. Their growth was also aided by frequent official promotions and discounts.

In February this year, BYD launched 21 new vehicles equipped with advanced intelligent driving systems under the Dynasty and Ocean networks, priced between RMB 69,800 and 249,800. These included models such as Song L DM-i, Song L EV, Song Pro DM-i, Tang DM-i, Tang EV, Seagull, Dolphin, Seal 05 DM-i, Seal 06 DM-i, Seal 06 GT, Sealion 07 EV, and Seal 07 DM-i. Later, the Han L EV, Tang L EV, and Seal 06 EV were also introduced. In addition, BYD rolled out “fixed-price” and discount campaigns on certain Dynasty and Ocean models, further boosting sales.

Looking at the Denza brand, sales data show that Denza sold 12,407 units in September, with cumulative sales of 115,605 units this year. The best-selling model was the Denza D9, with 8,944 units sold in September and 81,760 units cumulatively. Other models included the N9 (2,524 units in September), Z9 (841 units), and N7 (98 units). On September 26, Denza began presales of its new luxury SUV, the Denza N8L, available in two versions with presale prices ranging from RMB 319,800 to 349,800. With the launch of the N8L, Denza’s future sales are expected to increase.

Yangwang, BYD’s high-end brand and the most expensive among its new energy brands, currently offers models such as the U9, U8, U7, and U8L. In September, Yangwang sold 758 units, with cumulative sales of 2,505 units from January to September. The U8 was the top seller, with 280 units in September and 1,196 units this year. The U9 and U7 sold 5 units and 473 units respectively in September.

Finally, the Fangchengbao brand, launched in June 2023, sold 24,121 units in September and has accumulated 115,312 units this year. Its sales mainly come from the Bao 3 and Bao 7 models, with September sales of 8,902 units and 8,128 units respectively. Notably, the Bao 7 was launched on September 9 as a mid-to-large SUV, offered in four versions priced between RMB 179,800 and 219,800. With sales nearing 10,000 in its first month, the Bao 7 achieved impressive results.

According to official plans, BYD’s annual sales target for this year is 5.5 million units. As of now, cumulative sales from January to September have reached 3,260,146 units, completing 59.28% of the annual target. With multiple new models launched in September, BYD’s sales are expected to continue growing in the coming months.
