Today, Sun Shaojun, a certified automotive expert on Weibo, posted on his personal account stating that the office team had to go to the production line to help with assembly. He also revealed that last week, 330 units of the Zun Jie S800 were delivered, and the expected delivery for September should be around 1500 units.

The images he shared show an urgent email mobilizing office staff to support the production line. The email mentioned that due to the surge in demand for the Zun Jie model from JAC Motors, there was a shortage of production staff, creating an unprecedented challenge in ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries. The email was an appeal to all office personnel (with departments arranging staff in batches), who would receive brief and efficient pre-job training before being assigned to specified positions on the production line, guided by supervisors and experienced staff.
This mobilization of office workers to the production line has sparked much attention online. Some netizens commented that it’s normal, citing their own experiences at state-owned enterprises where the entire office would be mobilized when there was a backlog of orders. However, others pointed out that the email may not have come directly from JAC Motors, but rather from a supplier. As of now, the official company has not responded to the content of the email.
Zun Jie, a brand co-developed by Huawei and JAC Motors, is the fourth smart car brand created through their collaboration. In December 2023, JAC Motors and Huawei Terminal Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to work together on smart electric vehicles, with joint development in product design, manufacturing, sales, and service. JAC Motors is responsible for the overall vehicle production.
Last year, Zun Jie launched its first model, the Zun Jie S800, available in four versions with prices ranging from 708,000 yuan to 1.018 million yuan. The S800 offers both range-extended and pure electric versions. The range-extended version features a 1.5T engine, with a maximum power output of 115 kW, while the dual-motor version has fuel consumption as low as 0.09L/100km, and the three-motor version has fuel consumption of 0.25L/100km. The three-motor version includes a front motor with a maximum output of 160 kW and two rear motors with a combined output of 273.5 kW. The dual-motor version has front and rear motors with maximum outputs of 160 kW and 230 kW, respectively.
Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s consumer business CEO, has called the Zun Jie S800 the best-selling car in the over-million-yuan price range in China. He noted that the car was designed with the standards of a 10-million-yuan vehicle, focusing on surpassing traditional luxury car brands in terms of intelligence, luxury, and comfort.
Notably, the car received strong demand immediately after its launch. Official data showed that in just 24 hours after launch, the car received more than 1,600 large orders; within 19 days, over 5,000 units were ordered; and by the 67th day, orders surpassed 10,000 units. At Huawei’s fall product launch event on August 25, Yu Chengdong revealed that, 87 days after launch, orders for the S800 had exceeded 12,000 units. This performance is remarkable, especially when compared to traditional luxury brands in such a short period.
Regarding factory capacity and delivery times, the company had previously responded that the delivery ramp-up at the Zun Jie Super Factory is progressing rapidly. In the first week of August, deliveries exceeded 200 units, and they planned to continue ramping up supply chain readiness and factory capacity. The overall delivery volume in August was expected to exceed 1,000 units, with delivery times for the range-extended version estimated to be 14-18 weeks and for the pure electric version, 16-20 weeks.
