On September 12, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced that Zhaoqing XPeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls.
The recall, filed under number S2025M0142V, will begin on September 15, 2025, and covers 47,490 XPeng P7+ vehicles produced between August 20, 2024, and April 27, 2025.

According to the notice, some affected vehicles may experience poor contact in the wiring harness of the power steering motor sensor, which could cause signal fluctuations in the steering system. This may trigger the steering fault warning light and, in extreme cases, lead to a loss of power steering assistance—posing a potential safety hazard. To address the issue, XPeng will replace the steering gear assembly with an improved version free of charge for all affected vehicles.
The XPeng P7+ is a facelifted version of the brand’s popular P7 electric sedan, launched in late 2024. Positioned as an intelligent mid-to-large pure-electric coupe-style sedan, the P7+ builds on the sporty design of the original P7 while offering significant upgrades in styling, performance, and smart technology.
The vehicle features a closed-off front grille with a full-width LED light strip, enhancing its futuristic appearance and road presence. With dimensions of approximately 4,888 × 1,896 × 1,450 mm and a wheelbase of 2,998 mm, the P7+ delivers competitive interior space in its segment.
In terms of performance, the P7+ is available in both rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, with certain variants offering over 700 km CLTC range. On the technology side, it is equipped with XPeng’s next-generation XNGP advanced driver-assistance system, which includes highway NGP, city navigation-assisted driving, and a combination of lidar sensors and high-performance chips to deliver enhanced safety and autonomy.
Since its original launch in 2020, the XPeng P7 has been the company’s flagship and best-selling model, symbolizing its foothold in the premium EV sedan market. While this recall affects a portion of P7+ units produced within a specific timeframe, XPeng emphasized that timely inspections and part replacements will ensure vehicle safety and maintain customer confidence in the model.
