Porsche Responds to Reports of Multiple Gasoline Models Being Discontinued

On October 27, Porsche responded to reports that several of its gasoline-powered models would be discontinued, clarifying that the adjustment is part of the company’s normal global product development and lifecycle planning. Porsche stated, “The 718 series has completed its full product lifecycle since its launch, and the development of the next-generation all-electric version is progressing as planned.” However, the company emphasized that the fuel-powered Macan has not been discontinued.

During the Q3 earnings call, Jochen Breckner, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Finance and IT, revealed that the current gasoline-powered Macan SUV is expected to cease production around mid-2026, though sales in certain markets may continue into 2027, depending on final inventory levels.

According to Porsche’s latest product roadmap, the company plans to launch multiple new models with gasoline and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains before 2030, including the second-generation Macan. The upcoming Macan will offer both gasoline and hybrid versions, be built on the new Audi Q5 platform, and be sold alongside the current Macan EV.
