First All-Electric SUV! Ora 5 Officially Launched

Recently, Ora’s first all-electric SUV, the Ora 5, was officially launched, along with the release of its interior official images.

In terms of appearance, the Ora 5 continues the “cat” design style of Ora, featuring round front headlights. The front of the vehicle adopts a layered design with prominent lines, and the front bumper is equipped with large trapezoidal cooling vents. On both sides, there are vertical air intake designs. For the body color, the new car offers six options: Aurora Green, White Cliff White, Senna Gray, Sand Dune Beige, Selimu Lake Blue, and Linzhi Red, all inspired by famous geographical landscapes.

On the side of the vehicle, the Ora 5 features what is called a “flowing cloud” body curve. The B-pillar is painted in black, and it features conventional door handles and a roof luggage rack. The charging port is located on the vehicle’s front fender. At the rear, the overall design is similar to the Ora Good Cat, equipped with a roof spoiler with an embedded high-position brake light. The tail light design is integrated into the rear window glass. The rear of the car carries the “GWM” logo at the center of the tailgate, with “Ora Cat” on the left side and “Great Wall Motors” on the right side. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4471/1833(1844)/1641mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2720mm.

Inside, the Ora 5 offers three interior color schemes: Dawn White, Noon Brown, and Starry Night Gray. The interior adopts a brand-new design, with large areas of grid fabric material covering the central console and door panels. It features a floating full LCD instrument display and a large central control screen, powered by the third-generation Coffee OS vehicle system, with Coffee GPT integrated into DeepSeek. The Ora 5’s steering wheel has a dual-spoke, flat-bottom design, and it uses a rotary gear shift mechanism. Besides the Ora brand’s signature stalk on the passenger dashboard, the car also provides a wireless phone charging panel, storage slots, cup holders, and more. Additional features include a 1.65-square-meter panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, and a large makeup mirror.

In terms of power, the Ora 5 is equipped with an electric motor from Honeycomb Drive Technology Pizhou Co., Ltd., with a maximum power output of 150kW, paired with a Honeycomb Energy lithium iron phosphate short-blade power battery. However, specific battery capacity and range information have not been disclosed by the official. For reference, in Ora’s current lineup, the model that features the same motor as the Ora 5 is the Lightning Cat, which comes with battery capacities of 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh, offering a CLTC range of 555 km and 705 km, respectively.

As the first all-electric SUV, the Ora 5 will be priced higher than the Ora Good Cat, likely starting at 100,000 yuan. Its competitors will include compact premium SUVs such as the Smart #1, MINI Aceman, and Firefly. From a product perspective, the Ora 5’s advantage lies in its larger body size and the endorsement of Great Wall Motors’ three-electric technology and safety standards. However, in such a competitive market, the final pricing of the Ora 5 will be key to its success.

The Ora 5 is not just a new car, but also a key experiment for Great Wall Motors’ global new energy strategy. Currently, the Ora lineup includes the Ora Good Cat, Ora Lightning Cat, and Ora Ballet Cat, with the majority of sales coming from the Ora Good Cat. According to retail data, from January to August 2025, the Ora brand sold a total of 14,781 units, with 14,290 units of the Ora Good Cat sold, and the other two models each sold around 100 units.
