On October 8, FAW Hongqi officially announced that the name of its upcoming off-road SUV will be revealed at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show. Previously, Hongqi launched a public naming campaign, and after multiple rounds of selection, the Top 10 finalists have now been announced: Xiongshi (Lion), Kunlun, 1927, Shanhe (Mountains and Rivers), Jinggangshan, Jiuzhou, Aoshib (Proud World), Rongyao (Glory of Battle), Jinchao (Today), and Guanshan (Overlooking the Mountains). The final name will be decided by public voting. FAW Hongqi has solemnly pledged that when the vehicle officially launches, the person who suggested the winning name will be awarded the very first unit of the model—“Hongqi Off-Road No.001.” Voting runs from October 8 to October 31, 2025.

To prepare for the production of its first hardcore off-road SUV, Hongqi has reduced the output of the H9, E-HS9, and Guoya (C801) models at its Changqing plant H platform, freeing up 26,000 units of production capacity for the SUV, while keeping total capacity at 100,000 units. The project involves an investment of RMB 380 million and is scheduled for completion in September 2026. Internally codenamed P567, the vehicle is positioned as a mid-to-large off-road SUV, equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. It measures 5120/2050/1960 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm, making it comparable in size to the Tank 700 Hi-4T and Fangchengbao Bao 8.
The SUV made its global debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and was later showcased in a military-themed concept version at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show. Design-wise, the model draws inspiration from ancient Chinese wooden architecture with mortise-and-tenon elements. The front fascia features a seven-vertical, two-horizontal grille combined with round headlights in square housings, giving it a powerful presence. The camouflaged concept car further emphasized this rugged style with add-ons such as a crash bar, tow hooks, partition ropes, a roof rack, spotlights, a rear-mounted utility pack, and off-road AT tires. It is expected that multiple customized versions will be offered when the production model launches.
According to previously released specifications, the Hongqi off-road SUV is built on a non-load-bearing body, powered by four motors with three differential locks, delivering a combined system torque of 1,160 N·m. It boasts 0–100 km/h acceleration in around 4 seconds, a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 210 km, and a fuel consumption of 9.5L/100km when operating with a depleted battery. This will be Hongqi’s first luxury hardcore off-road SUV, designed to serve multiple purposes including off-road adventures, long-distance expeditions, outdoor leisure, and daily commuting. It supports six driving modes: grass, gravel, snow, mud, water fording, and sand. The production model is planned for launch in 2026.
In terms of sales performance, Hongqi reported that in September, monthly sales surpassed 44,500 units, up 5.3% year-on-year. From January to September, cumulative sales reached 340,000 units, an 8.8% increase year-on-year. Among these, Hongqi’s new energy vehicle sales rose 15.4% year-on-year, while sales of its premium Golden Sunflower series increased 28.3% year-on-year.
