The latest new car declaration catalog released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that the all-new FAW Audi Q5L has been listed. The model in this declaration is the high-power version of the FAW Audi Q5L, which is equipped with a 2.0T engine that delivers a maximum power output of 200 kW, paired with the quattro all-wheel-drive system. In comparison, the previously declared model was the low-power version of the all-new FAW Audi Q5L, which has a maximum power output of 150 kW. The model in this declaration has more powerful performance.

The new car is built on Audi’s latest PPC luxury fuel platform, with its body size and wheelbase extended compared to the overseas version. It is positioned as a mid-size SUV. The low-power version of the all-new FAW Audi Q5L debuted in April this year and is expected to be launched by the end of the year. For comparison, the current price range of the model is between 349,800 to 429,800 RMB.
From the latest declaration images, the new car’s exterior design is largely consistent with the low-power version. It follows Audi’s family design language, with a newly shaped polygonal honeycomb grille at the front, featuring an illuminated four-ring logo in the center. The narrow LED headlights on both sides provide excellent visual recognition when lit. The lower bumper’s air intake channels are also adorned with chrome trim, enhancing the visual effect. The new car’s dimensions are 4842/1900/1660 (1640) mm for length, width, and height, and a 2945 mm wheelbase, which is the same as the low-power version of the all-new FAW Audi Q5L. Compared to the overseas version, the body size and wheelbase of this new car have been extended by 125 mm.
From the side view, the new car’s profile lines are more flowing than the overseas version. The roofline slopes down from the B-pillar and integrates seamlessly with the rear side window. The body’s shoulder line is treated in a discontinuous style. Unlike the low-power version, the new car features blacked-out elements on the grille, side air vent frames, lower door trim, and roof rails. Additionally, the new car does not have side-view cameras on the front fenders. According to the declaration, the new car offers two tire specifications, 255/45 R20 and 255/40 R21, and provides various optional configurations including window trim, side badges, side mirrors, lower door trim, roof rails, brake calipers, shark fin antenna, and more, to meet consumer preferences. At the rear, the car adopts a continuous taillight design and incorporates second-generation digital OLED technology, enhancing its technological appeal. The rear bumper is also blacked out, with circular silver trim to highlight the rear’s three-dimensional and sporty look. The exhaust system features dual exhausts on both sides.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with the 2.0T fifth-generation EA888 engine, with a displacement of 1984 ml and a maximum output of 200 kW. It also features the quattro all-wheel-drive system, with a top speed of 240 km/h. In comparison, the low-power version of the all-new FAW Audi Q5L has a maximum output of 150 kW, while the currently sold 2025 model features both high and low-power 2.0T engines with maximum outputs of 140 kW and 180 kW, respectively, and peak torque of 320 N·m and 370 N·m. These engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The performance version, the SQ5, is powered by a 3.0T V6 engine with a maximum output of 260 kW and peak torque of 800 N·m, matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Audi Q5 is based on Volkswagen’s MLB platform and was first unveiled at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show. Initially introduced to the Chinese market through imports, it gained significant popularity due to its price advantage, even leading to price increases and supply shortages. In March 2010, the Audi Q5 was officially localized in China, with prices ranging from 379,800 to 539,800 RMB. The second-generation model was launched at the 2016 Paris Auto Show and was introduced in China with a longer wheelbase in 2018, named the “Q5L,” priced from 392,800 to 517,000 RMB. In 2021, the Q5L underwent a mid-cycle facelift and has been on sale ever since.
This newly declared model can be considered the third-generation Audi Q5L. Based on its positioning, this new car will continue to compete with models like the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 after its release. According to retail data, from January to August this year, the Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 88,048 units, the Audi Q5L sold 85,311 units, and the BMW X3 sold 46,650 units.
