Exterior Design
Based on the filing images, the Fengyun T8L adopts an all-new design language. The front fascia features a closed-off grille paired with a full-width light bar, giving the SUV a sleek, EV-like appearance. Large air inlets on both sides of the front bumper enhance its sporty character.

The side profile is smooth and elegant, equipped with semi-flush door handles, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and chrome accents along the window line for a more refined look. Filing details show tire options of 235/55 R18 and 235/50 R19, with four different wheel designs available.

At the rear, the SUV takes on a square and upright stance, highlighted by through-type taillights that echo the front design. The tailgate carries the “Fengyun” lettering, along with badges for “Chery Auto,” “Fengyun T8L,” and “C-DM,” confirming its plug-in hybrid identity. Additional sporty touches include a diffuser, roof spoiler, and blacked-out lower bumper, while the exhaust adopts a hidden layout.

Dimensions & Powertrain
The Fengyun T8L measures 4731/1880/1708 mm (L/W/H) with a 2825 mm wheelbase, making it a mid-size SUV. Compared with the current Fengyun T8 (2710 mm wheelbase), the new model gains an extra 115 mm, improving interior space.

Under the hood, it uses a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5T turbo engine (115 kW output) with an electric motor. The battery pack is supplied by Anhui Deyi Energy Technology Co., Ltd., using lithium iron phosphate chemistry.

Brand Context & Market Positioning
Chery launched its new-energy Fengyun series in November 2023, which now spans sedans and SUVs such as the A8, T6, T9, T10, A8L, T8, and A9L. The Fengyun T8 C-DM, released in February 2025, currently sells between RMB 99,900–146,900 with six trims, offering 5- and 7-seat layouts.

Sales data show that in H1 2025, Fengyun T9 led the lineup with 24,900 units, followed by the A8 (8,911 units), T8 (6,659 units), and T10 (1,388 units).

With its updated dimensions, styling, and hybrid system, the Fengyun T8L is expected to compete against rivals such as the BYD Song L DM and Jetour Shanhai L7. Whether the new model can boost Fengyun’s overall sales will depend on official launch details yet to be disclosed.
