Equipped with a 4.0T V8 Engine! The New Hongqi Guoyao Launched, Priced from $215,000 USD

On October 11, FAW Hongqi officially launched the 2026 Hongqi Guoyao, offering two versions: the Elegant Flagship Edition and the Prestige Flagship Edition, priced at 1.56 million yuan and 1.66 million yuan, respectively, which aligns with the previously announced pre-sale prices.

The new vehicle was first available for pre-sale at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show. As a facelifted model, the new vehicle is positioned as a large SUV, with design elements carried over from the current model. The main changes include upgrades to the configuration and powertrain system, including the introduction of a new 4.0T V8 gasoline engine. Specifically, the vehicle retains Hongqi’s signature large front grille design, adorned with multiple vertical bars and the Hongqi logo extending onto the engine cover. The grille is flanked by rugged border designs, paired with “dragon-eye” LED headlights, giving the vehicle a dignified and imposing visual presence. Additionally, the front bumper features aviation-grade aluminum alloy forging, further enhancing the vehicle’s commanding presence.

From the side, the vehicle’s smooth, straight lines give it a robust appearance. The new model offers a two-tone body and waistline design, with a contrasting roof and body color, complemented by 22-inch multi-spoke chrome-plated wheels, enhancing its powerful stance. In terms of color, the new vehicle comes standard with 22-inch multi-spoke chrome-plated wheels and a Danxia black body color, with two theme options: Polar Pegasus and White Magnolia. The dimensions of the new vehicle are 5695mm in length, 2095mm in width, and 2010mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3309mm. Compared to the 2022 model, the new vehicle’s height has increased by 25mm, while other dimensions remain unchanged. At the rear, the vehicle features a popular through-type tail light design, embedded with multiple LED light sources that offer an impressive display effect when illuminated at night. The rear bumper also incorporates titanium alloy honeycomb structure, reflecting the vehicle’s premium feel. For the exhaust, the vehicle adopts a dual-side four-outlet exhaust pipe design, with the actual exhaust system hidden beneath the chassis.

Inside, the vehicle offers two interior color schemes: Hazelnut Brown/Black and Linen Beige/Soft Light Brown. It comes standard with suede-like roof linings and plush carpets to enhance the vehicle’s technological and luxurious feel. In terms of configuration, the new vehicle adds several features such as lane departure warning, active braking, fatigue driving reminder, and door opening warning. The seating layout includes a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration (Elegant Flagship) and a 2+2 four-seat configuration (Prestige Flagship). The four-seat model comes with executive seats in the rear that support 180-degree reclining.

In terms of power, the new model is equipped with the CA8GV40TD-03D 4.0T V8 engine, delivering a maximum power of 410 kW and a peak torque of 725 Nm. The WLTC combined fuel consumption is 13.9 liters per 100 kilometers, with the powertrain mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. In comparison, the previous model was equipped with the CA8GV40T-02 4.0T V8 engine, producing 265 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque, with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 16.4 liters per 100 kilometers, also paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

As a large SUV priced over one million yuan, the new Hongqi Guoyao competes primarily with models such as the Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Naturally, due to its high price point, the Hongqi Guoyao is unlikely to capture a large market share for FAW Hongqi. Retail data shows that in the first eight months of this year, the sales of the Hongqi Guoya, Hongqi Guoyao, and Hongqi Guoli totaled 181, 66, and 33 units, respectively.
