On September 23, the all-new Aion M7 was officially launched, including both extended-range and pure electric versions. The extended-range version is priced between 279,800 and 359,800 RMB, while the pure electric version is priced between 319,800 and 379,800 RMB. It was reported that within 5 minutes of its release, over 10,000 units were pre-ordered.

As a replacement model, the all-new Aion M7 has undergone significant changes. It adopts the latest design language of the Aion family, with a styling similar to that of the Aion M8. The front features a flat headlamp setup, while a continuous LED daytime running light connects the two headlights. The closed front design is paired with a trapezoidal-shaped ventilation opening for front aerodynamics, giving it a distinctive look. The new Aion M7 offers a variety of body colors, including Island Blue, Coral Red, Black, White, Green, and Silver. It can also be equipped with an optional Obsidian Package, which includes blacked-out brand logos, front and rear surrounds, side skirts, window frames, and roof rails, greatly enhancing its sporty appearance.
From the side, the Aion M7 retains the outline of the current model, with notable changes such as the adoption of semi-hidden door handles and the addition of chrome trim on the side skirts. The front and rear fender panels are slightly flared. In terms of size, the new Aion M7 measures 5080/1999/1780mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3030mm. It is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, with a length increase of 60mm, width increase of 54mm, height increase of 20mm, and wheelbase increase of 210mm compared to the current model. At the rear, the car features a new continuous taillight design with small blue lights. The “AITO” badge on the tailgate is now positioned above the light strip, and the lower surround is highlighted by a continuous chrome panel, echoing the front design.
Inside, the all-new Aion M7 adopts a fresh design style. The interior is predominantly covered in light brown materials, with a black trim panel connecting the digital instrument cluster, the 16.1-inch floating central screen, and the embedded passenger-side screen. The new model also features an AR-HUD and HUAWEI SOUND audio decoration. It comes with the same three-spoke steering wheel and rotary gear shift mechanism as the Aion M8, while the central console layout is adjusted to provide wireless phone charging, dual cup holders, and wood grain trim.
The all-new Aion M7 will be available in both five-seat and six-seat versions. The driver’s seat features zero-gravity seats that support an electric adjustment synchronized with the steering wheel for a one-touch recline mode, with standard seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The five-seat version provides 1030mm of second-row seating space and 1965mm of second-row legroom, while the six-seat version offers 2615mm of second-row seating space and 870mm of second-row legroom, along with 810mm of third-row legroom. Additionally, the rear-wheel-drive pure electric version comes with a 145L front trunk, which can be opened with a “Knock-Knock” double-tap and features an electric suction close function.
According to the official documents, the all-new Aion M7 will offer both extended-range and pure electric powertrains, with both versions available in single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive layouts. The extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5T range extender (model HG15T) producing a maximum power of 118 kW, with the two-wheel-drive version’s motor outputting 227 kW, and the four-wheel-drive version featuring front and rear motors with maximum powers of 165 kW and 227 kW, respectively. The pure electric version’s two-wheel-drive model also has a maximum motor power of 227 kW, while the four-wheel-drive version’s front and rear motors produce 160 kW and 227 kW, respectively.
In terms of battery and range, the extended-range version offers two battery capacities: 37 kWh and 53 kWh, with official ranges of 165 km, 175 km, 242 km, and 251 km. The official CLTC combined range is expected to exceed 1600 km. The pure electric version is expected to be equipped with a 100 kWh battery, offering a maximum CLTC range of over 700 km.
The Aion M7 is the second model launched by AITO, positioned as a mid-to-large SUV. It was first unveiled in July 2022 at Huawei’s summer flagship product launch event, equipped with a 1.5T range extender and a dual-motor hybrid powertrain. Its initial pricing ranged from 319,800 to 379,800 RMB, competing with the Li Auto ONE, though it had moderate sales. In September 2023, the new Aion M7 was launched with the full suite of HUAWEI ADS 2.0, supporting high-speed NCA navigation assistance, and an increased wheelbase of 2820 mm, with a starting price dropped to 249,800 RMB. This new pricing, combined with Huawei’s brand strength, generated significant attention and saw strong market performance. However, after 2025, its market performance has been somewhat underwhelming, partly due to the influence of the Aion M8 and increasing market competition.
As a model priced between 250,000 and 350,000 RMB, the all-new Aion M7 extended-range version faces competition from the Li L6/L7 models, which are heavily family-oriented. However, the Aion M7’s enhanced family attributes, combined with its suitability for both business and personal use, are expected to attract more family customers. Other competitors include the IM LS6, Zhiwei R7, and Lantu FREE+. The newly launched pure electric version will mainly target the Xiaomi Yu7, Tesla Model Y L, and the upcoming Li Auto i6, particularly Xiaomi’s Yu7. Though there’s little overlap between the two, both are highly favored by young consumers, and there may be some potential consumer overlap.
So, do you think the Aion M7 will experience a resurgence of success after its upgrade?
