Eight consecutive months of growth! Toyota announces global sales

Recently, Toyota Motor Corporation released its global sales and production data for August. The figures show that Toyota sold 844,963 vehicles worldwide in August, marking a 2.2% year-on-year increase and the eighth consecutive month of growth. In Japan, domestic sales totaled 96,269 units, down 12.1%, while overseas sales reached 748,694 units, up 4.4%.



From January to August 2025, Toyota’s cumulative global sales amounted to 6,903,693 vehicles, an increase of 5.0% year on year, including 999,963 units sold in Japan (up 7.3%) and 5,903,730 units overseas (up 4.6%).

Regional Performance
Japan: August sales dropped to 96,269 units, down 12.1% year on year.

North America: Strong performance, with sales rising to 259,816 units, up 12.2%.

United States: 225,367 units, up 13.6%

Canada: up 14.4%

Europe: Continued growth with 76,501 units sold, up 4.8% year on year.

Growth was seen in Italy, Germany, and Spain, with Germany leading at +14.4% to 7,665 units.

Asia and China
As Toyota’s second-largest global market, Asia saw mild growth in August, with 269,404 units sold (up 0.2%).
In China (including Hong Kong), Toyota sold 153,415 vehicles, a 0.9% year-on-year increase.

Toyota stated that despite challenges from the ongoing shift toward new energy vehicles and intensified price competition, government-linked subsidies and the strong performance of the new BEV model bZ3X helped maintain steady growth beyond last year’s level.

From January to August 2025, Toyota’s sales in China reached 1,142,828 units, up 5.8%, outperforming other Japanese automakers such as Nissan, Honda, and Mazda.

Model Highlights in China
According to retail data, six Toyota models in China each sold over 10,000 units in August, including:

RAV4 – 18,131 units

Corolla Cross – 17,644 units

Camry – 15,526 units

Frontlander – 14,920 units

Wildlander – 11,509 units

Avalon – (part of the six models)

It is reported that the new-generation Wildlander and RAV4 have already completed registration with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and are expected to launch within the year. New versions of the Corolla and Levin are also expected to debut soon.
