New 1.5T Engine Added! The All-New Emgrand Makes Its Debut

Recently, the all-new Geely Emgrand made its official debut. As a next-generation model, it is officially named the “5th-Generation Emgrand.” The new car features updated exterior and interior designs and introduces an optional 1.5T turbocharged engine. For reference, the current 2026 4th-Generation Emgrand 4 Million Commemorative Edition is priced between ¥68,900 and ¥86,900.

Exterior Design
The all-new Emgrand adopts a larger chrome vertical-bar front grille, giving the car a bolder and more upscale appearance. The headlight units feature dual LED light strips above and below, while dual L-shaped decorations are added to the simulated air intake areas on both sides of the front bumper.

On the side, the Emgrand showcases a rising waistline with chrome window trims, emphasizing a sporty and dynamic look. The car retains traditional pull-type door handles. In terms of dimensions, the new Emgrand measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm — all larger than the previous generation.

At the rear, black trim connects the tail lamps, which are accompanied by GEELY chrome lettering. The car also features dual exhaust-style decorations, and the rear fog light is positioned centrally beneath the rear bumper.

Interior Design
Inside, the new Emgrand combines black and brown tones for a refined, upscale feel. It comes with a digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating central touchscreen, running the Flyme Auto smart cockpit system for a smoother user experience.

Below the central console are metal-finish physical buttons, a 50W air-cooled wireless fast charger, and crystal-style gear shifter with four crystal cabin lights on the roof. The air vents adopt a new square “回” design with chrome accents.

The flat-bottom four-spoke steering wheel features dual-tone leather wrapping, while the center console includes a wireless charging pad, cup holders, and extra storage space below.

Powertrain
The new Emgrand offers two engine options:

A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power output of 88 kW, expected to pair with a CVT gearbox.

A 1.5T turbocharged engine delivering 133 kW and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

Market Position & Sales
The Emgrand has long been known as a popular and affordable compact sedan with a large user base. In 2024, total sales reached 115,700 units, while January–August 2025 sales stood at 81,600 units. With the upcoming launch of the new model, a short-term dip in sales is expected due to model transition.

Competitors include domestic models like the Changan Eado, Roewe i5, MG5, and Chery Arrizo 5, as well as joint-venture rivals such as the Nissan Sylphy, Buick Excelle, and Volkswagen Lavida. With its larger dimensions, the new Emgrand will likely compete against larger compact sedans such as the Changan Eado and Chery Arrizo 8 in the fuel-powered segment.
