BYD Unveils First Teaser Image of Its All-New Electric K-Car

On October 22, BYD released a teaser on its official Japanese website, announcing that it will debut an all-new electric K-Car at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show later this month. The company also revealed the model’s first side-profile teaser image.

From the teaser, the new vehicle adopts a design language similar to Japan’s mainstream “box cars,” and it is expected to be primarily targeted at the Japanese market. It remains unclear whether the model will be introduced in China. Compared with conventional box cars, BYD’s new K-Car offers a superior space layout — thanks to its EV architecture, the front end can be shorter, and the long wheelbase with short overhangs significantly increases cabin room.

Based on earlier spy photos, the rear doors of the new model use sliding door mechanisms, making it easier for passengers to enter and exit. The design also provides unobstructed rear visibility, with large windows and a floating roof style. Both the front and rear ends feature ring-shaped LED lights, enhancing the vehicle’s recognizability.

Inside, the car is equipped with a three-spoke heated steering wheel, an instrument display, and a floating central touchscreen. The A-pillars feature small triangular windows, while the front seats appear to be connected in a bench-like layout, creating a spacious and practical interior with a strong focus on comfort and technology.

In terms of performance, given its lightweight construction, the new BYD K-Car is expected to use a 20 kWh Blade Battery, providing a driving range of approximately 180 km under the WLTC cycle.
