On October 20, the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 Long Range Edition was launched. The new vehicle is available in four configurations, with prices ranging from ¥269,800 to ¥329,800. The Bao 5 Long Range Edition mainly upgrades the powertrain system, including a larger capacity battery pack, improved electric range, and reduced fuel consumption in low battery conditions. Additionally, the car introduces new exterior color options, including Warm Wind White and a Sand Dune Brown interior.

In terms of exterior design, the Bao 5 Long Range Edition remains consistent with the current model, featuring a boxy design. It includes unpainted material cladding around the front and rear wheel arches and door lower edges, as well as new-shaped wheels. Some models continue to feature a roof-mounted lidar and are equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4 driver assistance system. The vehicle’s dimensions are 4890 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, and 1920 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2800 mm, and it has a 5-seat layout. The color options include Night Shadow Black, Peak Gray, Dolomiti Mountain Green, Wattner Icefield Blue, and the new Warm Wind White.
Inside, the Bao 5 Long Range Edition continues with the current model’s design, offering options like Eclipse Blue, Shallow Beach Green, and the new Sand Dune Brown interior. The car features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 26-inch HUD head-up display. Standard features include tire pressure display, airbags for the driver and front passenger, front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, 360-degree surround-view camera, full-speed adaptive cruise control, rear differential lock, a panoramic sunroof, 50W wireless charging for smartphones, ventilated and heated front seats, and ventilated and heated second-row seats. Additionally, the front seats feature an ecological interface for installing a BYD PAD pivot stand. Depending on the configuration, the vehicle may also come with DiPilot 100 or Huawei Qiankun ADS4 for advanced driver assistance.
In terms of power, the Bao 5 Long Range Edition continues to use a plug-in hybrid system with a 1.5T engine and electric motor, producing a total power output of 505 kW and a total torque of 760 Nm. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.8 seconds, with a 47.8 kWh battery providing a pure electric range of 210 km under the CLTC cycle, and a total range of 1310 km. The vehicle’s fuel consumption is 8.43 L/100 km when the battery is depleted.
Meanwhile, the Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition was also launched, with two configurations available, priced between ¥379,800 and ¥399,800. This new version adopts a 2+3 seating layout and retains the design of the current model, with the addition of a new Lake Green color. The Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition offers a better second-row seating experience, with improvements in space and comfort. The front and second-row seats come with leg supports, matching some of the equipment found in other models. Like the Bao 5 Long Range Edition, the Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition also features an ecological interface for the BYD PAD pivot stand.
The Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition is based on the DMO platform and is powered by a 2.0T engine and dual electric motors, producing a combined output of 550 kW and a combined torque of 760 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds. It is equipped with a 36.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a pure electric range of 100 km under the WLTC cycle.
The launch of the Bao 5 Long Range Edition and Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition optimizes consumer options. Previously, the Bao 5 was launched with a CLTC pure electric range of 125 km, starting at ¥239,800. With the new Long Range Edition, the electric range has been increased to 210 km, priced at ¥269,800. The Bao 8 Five-Seat Edition is priced similarly to the previously launched six-seat and seven-seat models, starting at ¥379,800, offering a more comfortable driving and riding experience.
Currently, Fang Cheng Bao’s lineup includes the Bao 5, Bao 8, Titanium 3, and Titanium 7. The Bao 5 is the brand’s first model, positioned as a mid-size off-road SUV, and uses a 1.5T plug-in hybrid powertrain. Its competitors include the Tank 300 Hi4-T, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and the Deep Blue G318. In September, the Bao 5 sold 4,502 units. The Bao 8 is Fang Cheng Bao’s second mass-produced model, positioned as a large-size off-road SUV, competing with the Tank 500 Hi4-Z and Tank 700 Hi4-T. In September, the Bao 8 sold 1,217 units.
