On July 25, Xingji Meizu Group announced its latest executive appointment, naming Huang Zhipan as CEO of Xingji Meizu Group. Huang’s Weibo profile has already been updated to reflect the new role. According to public records, Huang Zhipan joined Meizu in 2004 and was appointed CEO of Meizu in January 2021. In 2022, Geely’s Xingji Times acquired a 79.09% controlling stake in Meizu Technology, gaining sole control over the company. In 2023, Xingji Meizu Group was officially established, with Shen Ziyu appointed as Chairman and CEO, while Huang took on the roles of Executive Vice President of Xingji Meizu Group, President of the Mobile Business Division, and CEO of the Meizu brand. In May 2024, leadership changes saw Su Jing replace Shen as CEO. By June, corporate filings showed that Huang had been registered as the new legal representative of Zhuhai Xingji Meizu Information Technology Co., Ltd., replacing Su Jing.

Huang’s return to the core leadership position marks a pivotal turning point for Xingji Meizu. Following Geely’s acquisition, Meizu announced its entry into the automotive sector at its autumn product launch event on November 30, 2023, introducing the slogan “Boundless Smart Mobility, Open Platform.” This initiative centers on Flyme Auto, Meizu’s in-car intelligent operating system. The modular system allows automakers to integrate customized features at low cost and high efficiency, enhancing the smart cockpit experience. Models from Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, and Galaxy brands have already adopted Flyme Auto.

Beyond software, Xingji Meizu has also announced plans to enter vehicle manufacturing. Under the project, the group will leverage Geely’s manufacturing capabilities to launch the MEIZU DreamCar MX, a co-creation vehicle that Meizu fans can help personalize with customized paint, interiors, and infotainment themes. However, industry analysts note that the market remains cautious about Meizu’s car-making ambitions, given the heavy financial and time commitments required. The custom DreamCar is seen as a trial balloon; if successful, Xingji Meizu may later expand into mainstream automotive products while also showcasing its underlying technology to potential partners.

As a long-time Meizu veteran, Huang Zhipan’s appointment as CEO of Xingji Meizu Group is expected to bring new vision in product development, market expansion, and internal management. His leadership may help the company navigate fierce competition, achieve breakthrough growth, and strengthen its position in the tech industry. The move also underscores Xingji Meizu’s commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality products and services while advancing its intelligent ecosystem.
