On September 30, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued a new recall notice. The announcement revealed that, starting immediately, Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. is recalling certain Colawie electric vehicles produced between December 10, 2019, and July 11, 2023, totaling 98,408 vehicles.

The recall is due to an issue where vehicles within the affected range may experience a fluctuation in braking performance when encountering special road surfaces, such as speed bumps, during braking. When the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is triggered, the electric motor’s regenerative braking function is affected, leading to inconsistent braking performance that does not meet the driver’s expectations, creating a safety risk. To address this defect, Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. will offer free software updates to the affected vehicles to improve braking performance and eliminate safety hazards.
This recall action follows a defect investigation initiated by the SAMR. In terms of the number of vehicles affected, this recall involves a substantial amount, with 98,408 vehicles in total.
