The Yangwang U8L is based on the luxury version of the Yangwang U8 and can be seen as a long-wheelbase version, offering both a lengthened body and additional features. In terms of dimensions, the Yangwang U8L Ding Shi Edition measures 5400/2049/1921mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3250mm, positioning it as a full-size luxury SUV. In comparison, the Yangwang U8 has dimensions of 5319/2050/1930mm and a wheelbase of 3050mm. The U8L Ding Shi Edition’s wheelbase is 200mm longer. Additionally, the interior of the new vehicle adopts a 2+2+2 three-row six-seat layout, with the second row featuring zero-gravity seats equipped with electric leg rests, an armrest screen, and a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, emphasizing both luxury and technology.

In terms of appearance, the overall design of the vehicle remains similar to the Yangwang U8, with only minor optimizations to the details. The new model features a brand-new black and gold two-tone color scheme. The front design is inspired by the character “Ding,” incorporating a dot matrix LED light source and interstellar traversal headlights, with the brand’s golden logo in the center, inspired by oracle bone script and featuring the character “电” (electric). The logo is highly recognizable when illuminated. The front bumper is adorned with black decorative elements, further enhancing the vehicle’s layered appearance.

The body design features smooth lines that outline a majestic and imposing silhouette, with 23-inch eight-hole forged wheels and 22-inch ten-spoke silver/black wheels available in three options for consumers. The overall look is simple yet elegant. The vehicle comes in two exclusive black and gold color combinations: Obsidian Black with Daylight Gold and Obsidian Black with Sun Gold, as well as five other body color options: Obsidian Black, Fluorescent White, Dragon Stone Green, among others. At the rear, the most significant change is the removal of the external spare tire, and the license plate holder has been moved from the rear bumper to the center of the tailgate. The new model comes with a standard split electric tailgate, which supports two independent opening sections and multiple opening modes for more flexible and convenient access.

Inside, the vehicle offers two interior color options: black-brown with black walnut trim and purple-gray with orange wood trim. The seats are upholstered in Nappa leather, giving the interior a luxurious feel. The car is equipped with a 12.8-inch OLED curved screen, along with a 23.6-inch full-width instrument panel and a co-pilot multimedia screen. It also includes an AR-HUD (augmented reality head-up display) system. The car is also equipped with a four-spoke capacitive steering wheel and a gear shifter with a shift-by-wire mechanism. The air conditioning vents have been integrated into a seamless design, further emphasizing the car’s technological features.

In terms of power, the new model uses the same powertrain as the Yangwang U8, consisting of a 2.0T engine paired with a generator for an extended-range hybrid system. It features a four-motor system with a combined power of 880 kW and a total torque of 1280 Nm. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the Tian Shen Eye A driving assistance system, featuring three laser versions, and the Yun Nian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, which allows for one-click body posture leveling.

Yangwang is BYD’s high-end automotive brand, also the company’s most expensive new energy brand. Currently, it offers three models: the Yangwang U9 (priced at 1.68 million RMB), the Yangwang U8 (priced at 1.098 million RMB), and the Yangwang U7 (priced at 628,000-708,000 RMB). Retail data shows that in the first half of this year, Yangwang Motors’ total sales reached 838 units, with the Yangwang U8 accounting for 759 units.
